People see the finished results, the spotless properties and the business growth…

What they don’t see are the days when things go wrong.

Today started with 9 same-day changeovers and an iced coffee. It ended with saying goodbye to the van that helped build The Combat Cleaners from the ground up. 💙🚐

When I started this business, £1,000 was a huge amount of money. That van carried our equipment, our hopes, our stress, our wins and everything in between.

We all left our messages on her before she heads off to the scrapyard. A small goodbye to something that played a big part in our journey.

The van may be gone, but the team still smashed 9 changeovers, guests still checked in, and tomorrow we go again.

That’s business. That’s resilience. That’s The Combat Cleaners.

For the past two years, we’ve had the privilege of looking after The Old Barn, and one thing that makes us incredibly proud is that it is still just as clean, fresh, and spotless today as it was on the very first day we took it over.

Consistency is everything in this industry. Anyone can do a great clean once, but maintaining those same high standards week after week, month after month, and year after year is what truly sets a professional team apart.

Every changeover, every inspection, and every detail receives the same level of care and attention as it did on day one. No shortcuts, no corners cut—just the same commitment to excellence that our guests and hosts have come to expect from us.

The Old Barn is a testament to what can be achieved when high standards become a habit rather than a one-off effort.

Two years on, and we’re just as proud of it today as we were when we first walked through the door. 💙

That’s why we run our TCC Availability Hub – a dedicated group where we post shifts, additional work, and cover opportunities as and when we need extra hands on deck.

Whether you’re looking to pick up a few extra shifts, earn some additional income around your existing commitments, or gain experience within a growing company, we’d love to hear from you.

WE’RE OFFICIALLY FINALISTS! 🏆

We started The Combat Cleaners with a simple goal, to build a cleaning company that delivers exceptional results, takes pride in every job, and always puts our customers first, we wanted to build a company that didn’t believe in cutting corners.

Today, I’m incredibly proud to announce that The Combat Cleaners Ltd has been shortlisted as a Finalist in the UK Small Business Awards. This may be small to others, but to us is a huge achievement and an accomplishment to the hard work we put in every single day!

As a mum of three and the owner of a military valued inspired business, this recognition means more to us than I can put into words. The journey hasn’t always been easy, but every challenge has helped shape the company we are today.

What makes this achievement even more special is knowing that it reflects the dedication of our entire team. We don’t believe in doing the bare minimum. Blog of the Day: Respect Goes Both Ways

One thing I’ve learned from working in the holiday let industry is that the best host-cleaner relationships are built on mutual respect.

A cleaner is not “just a cleaner.”

We are often the first people to spot maintenance issues, guest damage, low stock levels, safety concerns, and problems that could affect a guest’s stay and a host’s reputation.

We are trusted with keys, alarm codes, expensive properties, guest turnovers, and ensuring every arrival walks into a five-star experience.

Unfortunately, there are still some people who believe that because they own the property, they are somehow above the people helping them run it.

The reality is this:

A successful holiday let is a team effort.

Hosts need cleaners.
Cleaners need hosts.

Neither role is more important than the other.

The hosts we value most are the ones who communicate professionally, appreciate the work that goes into maintaining their property, and understand that respect is a two-way street.

When people work together as equals, amazing things happen.

When people try to belittle others, all they achieve is damaging relationships and creating resentment.

No matter your job title, your bank balance, or what you own, treating people with kindness and respect costs absolutely nothing.

And in business, respect will always get you further than arrogance.

Please remember us cleaners are human beings, we feel the same as everyone else and the word “cleaner” does NOT mean the word “doormat” !!

Why is it that after successfully cleaning an entire house, scrubbing bathrooms, changing beds, and making everything look perfect… the microwave plate suddenly becomes the hardest task of the day? 🤦‍♀️

Turn it… nope.
Lift it… nope.
Try again… nope.
Question every life choice that led you to this moment… definitely.

Nothing humbles a cleaner faster than standing in front of a microwave for 5 minutes trying to line up three tiny wheels and a glass plate. 😂
