Zen, Durham – Complete 🌸✨

After weeks of work on site, the refurbishment at Zen in Durham is now complete, and we’re really pleased with how the finished restaurant has come together.

We’ve worked on the transformation of the restaurant’s interiors, including re-upholstered seating, refreshed timberwork, bespoke seating and joinery, as well as sourcing and restoring the beautiful 18th-century painted teak Kutchi double entrance doors and frame for the restaurant.

We also completed the new frontage, structural works, glazing, timber screens and doors, along with various other building works throughout.

The finished space combines carefully considered new details with the character and feel of the original restaurant.

It’s been a real team effort, working alongside the other contractors and trades on site throughout the refurbishment. A big thank you to Zen Group for trusting us to be part of the project, and to everyone involved in bringing it all together.

Here’s a look at the finished result 👀✨

A little look at what we’ve been up to at Zen, Durham 👀🌸

We’re currently refurbishing this beautiful Thai-Asian restaurant on Court Lane, with plenty happening behind the scenes as we work towards getting the space ready for opening.

It’s been a real team effort, working closely alongside the other contractors and trades on site to pull all the different elements together and keep the project moving.

There’s a lot of detail going into the interiors, from refreshing existing timberwork and seating to creating new bespoke joinery, screens, doors and decorative features.

We’re also restoring this beautiful painted teak Kutchi door and frame, dating back to the 18th century, in our workshop. Once restored, it will be installed at Zen as part of the finished restaurant.

It’s great to see everything starting to come together - here are a few progress shots from along the way!

Our joinery workshop has now been operating for 5 years and is expanding more by the day. With new machines and personnel, we have an excellent team working together to show off exactly what they can do.

Over the past year we have begun to manufacture our own bespoke items, such as shelves, tables, chairs and even booth seating. We can make products to your own unique specification and offer various finishes and staining to create the exact look you were aiming for. Edmundson’s understand that adding something new shouldn’t take away from what was already there, that is why we can advise on materials and colours to blend your bespoke items into your home, and we can fit them for you too!

Another new string to our bow is bespoke media walls. We worked closely with the client to produce a media display wall that was neat and practical but also had an upmarket and unique feel to it. Each intricate section was manufactured in our workshop and fitted on site to form the finished pattern, creating storage and display pockets that perfectly surround the television set.

Feel free to peruse our products, the most recent being a bespoke shelf, made to order using reclaimed pieces of wood, meaning it is not only a quality product but made with sustainability in mind.
