Lockdown #2 update!
Electrical work in your home and garden can continue. See below with excerpts from the government website.
All sensible safety precautions will be adhered to. Hands, face, space!
Call me on 07920 841041 to arrange a visit.

From gov.uk-

1. Stay at home
This means you must not leave or be outside of your home except for specific purposes. These include:
for work purposes, where your place of work remains open and where you cannot work from home (including if your job involves working in other people’s homes)

6. Going to work
To help contain the virus, everyone who can work effectively from home must do so. Where people cannot do so (for instance people who work in critical national infrastructure, construction or manufacturing) they should continue to travel to work/attend their workplace. This is essential to keeping the country operating and supporting vital sectors and employers.

I will follow all government guidelines to make it as safe as possible for both parties.

Please see below for details from the government.

Clarification on non-essential home improvement work -

I have received confirmation from the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) that the governments announcement on Sunday to go out to work if you can't work from does in fact apply to non-essential work. Their response is below:

'With the exception of households which are isolating or shielding, non-essential work can be carried out where it can be undertaken safely. Tradespeople should follow the guidance for working in people’s home, including undertaking a risk assessment and making every reasonable effort to comply with the social distancing guidelines. No work should be carried out in a household which is isolating because one or more family members has symptoms or where an individual has been advised to shield - unless it is to remedy a direct risk to the safety of the household.'

Lockdown update.
I have posted some guidelines below regarding working in peoples homes at this strange time we're living in.

Basically essential works are allowed if social distancing can be maintained and that all parties show no symptoms. Essential works would include repairs and maintenance, for example an electrical fault which is potentially dangerous or a replacement cooker or shower. Outside work is possible too though the definition of what is essential here is open to interpretation.

So if you have work that falls in line with the above criteria please call. I can also start booking in work for the future and give help and advice over the phone.

Tradespeople and working in people’s homes
You are a tradesperson carrying out essential repairs and maintenance in people’s homes. You can continue work, providing that you are well and have no symptoms. You should notify all clients in advance of your arrival.
On entry to the home you should wash your hands using soap and water for 20 seconds. You should wash your hands regularly, particularly after blowing your nose, sneezing or coughing, and when leaving the property. Where facilities to wash hands are not available, hand sanitiser should be used, and you should carry this with you at all times.
You should maintain a safe distance (at least 2 metres) from any household occupants at all times, and ensure good ventilation in the area where you are working, including opening the window.
No work should be carried out in any household which is isolating or where an individual is being shielded, unless your work is to remedy a direct risk to the safety of the household, such as emergency plumbing or repair.
No work should be carried out by a tradesperson who has coronavirus symptoms, however mild.

Information for STROMA regarding carring out work in peoples homes -
If you are entering people’s homes to undertake any electrical installation or inspection work, please follow the Public Health England Guidelines on safe working -
"Certain jobs require people to travel to, from and for their work – for instance if they operate machinery, work in construction or manufacturing, or are delivering front line services.
If you cannot work from home then you can still travel for work purposes, provided you are not showing coronavirus symptoms and neither you nor any of your household are self-isolating. This is consistent with advice from the Chief Medical Officer.
Employers who have people in their offices or onsite should ensure that employees are able to follow Public Health England guidelines including, where possible, maintaining a 2 metre distance from others, and washing their hands with soap and water often for at least 20 seconds (or using hand sanitiser gel if soap and water is not available).
Work carried out in people’s homes, for example by tradespeople carrying out repairs and maintenance, can continue, provided that the tradesperson is well and has no symptoms. Again, it will be important to ensure that Public Health England guidelines, including maintaining a 2 metre distance from any household occupants, are followed to ensure everyone’s safety.
No work should be carried out in any household which is isolating or where an individual is being shielded, unless it is to remedy a direct risk to the safety of the household, such as emergency plumbing or repairs, and where the tradesperson is willing to do so. In such cases, Public Health England can provide advice to tradespeople and households.
No work should be carried out by a tradesperson who has coronavirus symptoms, however mild."
