🌿 A Kitchen Inspired by Nature, Designed Around Family Life
We’re delighted to share another beautiful kitchen project, designed and supplied by Kitchen Supplier Direct and expertly installed by Simon Reekie Carpentry Services Ltd.
From the very first conversation, Scott and Kate were an absolute pleasure to work with. Their brief was refreshingly clear: Real wood, natural materials and a kitchen that felt authentic to their home.
The result is a wonderfully considered space that brings together natural textures, thoughtful design and practical family living.
🌳 Natural materials with a story to tell
One of our favourite details is the locally sourced driftwood that Scott and Kate have incorporated into their kitchen. It adds a unique, personal touch that simply cannot be replicated from a catalogue.
Paired with beautiful solid Iroko worktops, the kitchen has a warmth and character that only real wood can bring. The natural grain, textures and tones create a space that feels timeless, welcoming and truly individual.
🏡 A kitchen that works around the home, not the other way around
This project is a fantastic example of why great kitchen design isn't simply about filling a space with cabinets.
Scott and Kate wanted a kitchen that worked beautifully for their family, while leaving plenty of room for the rest of their downstairs living space. Rather than allowing the kitchen and utility areas to dominate the ground floor, the brief was about balance, functionality and making the entire home work harder for the family.
We think it's a brilliant reminder that you don't need an enormous kitchen to have an exceptional one. Sometimes, the best design decision is knowing what not to fill.
🔨 Made to fit, finished with care
The kitchen carcases were manufactured in the New Forest, with several units made to measure specifically for this project.
Why does that matter? Because good kitchen design should make life easier for the installer and deliver a better end result for the customer. Made-to-measure cabinetry helps achieve a more precise, fitted finish, reducing the need for unnecessary on-site alterations and compromises.
For the doors, Scott and Kate chose the beautiful Outline integrated-handle range. Combining clean lines with distinctive detailing, these doors offer a contemporary finish while allowing the natural materials elsewhere in the kitchen to take centre stage.
✨ The details that bring everything together
Every element was selected to complement the natural feel of the space:
▪️ Worktops: Solid Iroko, bringing warmth, character and beautiful natural grain.
▪️ Sink & tap: A black Abode 1.25 bowl sink paired with an Abode single-lever tap, adding a crisp, contemporary contrast.
▪️ Appliances: Samsung appliances, selected for their excellent value, with a five-year parts and labour warranty on the specified products.
▪️ Wirework: Utensio storage solutions. We think these are fantastic, combining practical everyday storage with a premium finish, a 12-year warranty and a choice of three accent finishes.
It's the combination of these details, alongside the thought that went into the original brief, that makes this kitchen so special.
❤️ Supporting brilliant independent businesses
There's one final detail we'd love to share.
Scott runs "Revive & Retold", a brilliant business dedicated to breathing new life into tired waxed jackets. It's clear how much pride he takes in his work, and we love seeing that same appreciation for quality, craftsmanship and making things last.
If you've got a waxed jacket that deserves a second life, please show Scott some support and take a look at:
