It’s easy to get lost in the sheer beauty of a Magnolia in full bloom. But did you know you aren’t just looking at a flower—you're looking at history? 🕰️
Magnolias are one of the very first flowering plants (angiosperms) ever to appear on Earth. These breathtaking trees were actually blooming during the Cretaceous period, roughly 100 million years ago. 🦕💨 That means Magnolias were around before bees and butterflies existed. (They rely on beetles to pollinate them, which is why their petals are so tough and waxy).
They are truly "living fossils." 🌿🤍

Maintaining a tree with this kind of lineage requires specialised knowledge. Magnolias are sensitive, especially in our Cotswold climate. They can easily bleed sap if pruned at the wrong time of year, and an improper cut can encourage a weak, messy structure. This primitive beauty deserves more than just a quick trim.
