A repair from earlier in the year, a fair amount of foliage had to be pulled out of this gateway along with alot of stone repair and replacement . Also got me a chance to whip out the pigment again for some stone repair, photo 5 is the a sample of the finished repairs, decided to try and match the lichen growth until it naturally comes back.

Finally managed to snap some photos of this repoint from earlier in the year with the new reclaimed window sill and bespoke new window. Abit more work than originally thought but came out really nicely.

Small repoint on this gable, the mortar hD suffered from failed guttering, the masonry bees weren't that happy but! We gave them a new home. These 100 plus year old bricks had some great finger impressions in them, back when bring your child to work wasn't just a day by looks of the sizes of those fingers.
Also some fun brick repair, always nice to whip out the pigments.
Alright then happy Beltane day!

Just finished these small repairs, makes a nice change from the large jobs of the year. Firstly tidy up of the pointing, mullion repairs using stone dust, putty and pigment to colour match the original and lastly string course repair. This string course had to be shaped by hand rather than run in situ, defintiely more of a challenge!
And of course the view from the office wasn't too bad.

Been hard at work on a large renovation all summer, here is a repointing job from earlier in the year. Nice project to do just up from town center. Some stone and lintels repairs aswell, always a challenge to try to colour and texture match the original stonework.

Re render completed earlier this Spring. Off with the sand and cement debbledash and on with some lovely breathable stuff. Tried out the new h**p fibres from , worked wonders and doesn't get clogged up in the mixer, nice to see the back of plastic fibres that's for sure.
Finished with a hot lime wash of ivory black and raw umber which turned out really nicely, goes on almost black but dried much subtler.
Also tried out a slightly different render technique than I have used before but gave a really nice finish in the end, so definitely be using that again.

A small repointing completed a fee months back, it was minus 6 when I was raking out, spring sure does come round quickly. Couple of fun parts of this job, repairing a couple of quoins using a mixture of stone dust putty and pigment to colour match where possible, you can see this after shot in image 1 and before image 2.
Also spotted the tell tale signs of the lesser spotted damp proof injection, obviously worked a treat didnt it/s. Quick video of a hot lime mortar mix slaked as a 3:1 mix, this was after an hour or so of bubbling away, usually let this sit overnight then knock it back up before using it.
Cheers then!
