Spent an hour or so sorting the greenhouse in preparation for our holiday…. Things are slowing down and I have pulled up lots but we still have an abundance of ground cherrys, still getting tomato’s, sprouts are starting to form and we finally have peppers, an aubergine, chilli’s and courgettes. There’s a few edamame beans which is a miracle as it took a few attempts before they germinated.

The end rot continues but things are definitely starting to slow down in the greenhouse as it gets cooler.

Things are slowly coming to an end for this years growing season but we are making the most of what’s left as picking what we can.

We have had our struggles with pests this year 🤯 but if I’m one thing it’s definitely determined and giving up doesn’t come easily. Everything’s had a good spray so hopefully we can get on top of the pests…

Peedie update from the last few days, the battle against the slugs continues but we are still getting a good amount of fruit veg 👌🏻

Gutted that the red spider mite seems to have taken hold on some of the plants….. we won’t be defeated.

Dounby show 2026 over and out…. Always learning always growing and forever grateful for the all involved in organising and carrying out the horticultural show.

It’s show time….. here’s a summary of what I managed to grow and pull together for the show. Admittedly the greenhouse was very much neglected in the lead up to the show as I spent hours baking and preserve making…. However I was pleased at what I managed to salvage.
