PC Plumb is now installing EV Chargers!

Following training and qualification last year through NAPIT, I am now pleased to be offering Electric Vehicle Chargers installations.

Yesterday I attended a nuisance tripping event - the customers kitchen lighting circuit was randomly short circuiting and tripping the circuit breaker, taking out kitchen and utility lights.

The fault was traced to the cable to this dusk until dawn sensor feeding some step lighting.

The cable used is not suitable for outdoor use, and it is joined somewhere in a junction box under the patio. The recent exceptional weather has almost certainly exposed this weakness and caused water ingress into the installation.

For now the circuit is isolated, but in order to rectify this fault the flowerbed need digging out and patio wall or slabs may need disturbing.

Done right, the cable joints would’ve been left in a position it could be accessed, (but still hidden) and the junction box filled with gel, which means there is no chance for water ingress into the wiring.

This is fairly straightforward to do albeit not cheap to install. Compared to having to damage a patio to repair what is almost certainly a water ingress issue a few years down the line there is no contest.

The second picture (with the lights on) is one of my installs, there are four junction boxes hidden in the picture. All are gel filled and accessible with a small amount of digging close to the wall. This way gives peace of mind and future proofing for all concerned.

Starting the week fitting outside lights in the rain to fitting sockets and lighting to a summer house in the sun today.

It’s nice when the weather works out well!

We managed to conceal all cabling in round conduit behind the summer house and wood coloured trunking carefully concealed where possible, but it will blend in once the interior has been stained.

Remote switching for lights using Quinetic wireless switching, which is battery free and has a great range

Putting the finishing touches to a brand new shower installation.

This is part of a full bathroom installation, the wall panels are Mermaid Elite range, which are composite panels so fully water resistant and trim free for a minimalist look, with a beautiful curved finish on the outside edge. I’m particularly happy with how this has worked, the panels were cut around and into the window reveal, which was a challenging cut.

Also shown is a Mira Platinum digital shower, with remote control. The water is mixed in one unit and supplied in a hidden pipe from above, which means no pipes or holes cut into the wall.
