We’ve been out enjoying the sunshine this week as well as checking in on a few mole jobs and pricing up new contracts we have been fitting bird proofing to solar panels. Pigeons have been causing problems for this customer making a mess all over their car and path.
Using the versatile Defender Jaws from Defender Bird Spikes, these excluder packs are usually clipped on to the edge of the solar panel but due to the thicker than standard panels the clips were removed and the strips attached with high strength polymer adhesive. The installation is virtually invisible from ground level. Following the installation a full clean of the panels and gutters was carried out to finish the job.

Ratting under the stars.
One of the fastest ways to make a dent in a large rat population is a night with an air rifle, night vision,thermal spotter and most importantly plenty of coffee.
This farm contract had seen a significant spike in rat numbers since our visit last month, with a few hours patience we were able to get the numbers back in check without the use of rodenticides.

We’ve been out bird proofing in Stafford this afternoon with the help of Prime Access Solutions. Pigeons have been causing a significant mess under the over hang between the roofs of 2 properties. The south facing roof and overhang have become an ideal roost spot for the local pigeon population. The piles of accumulated guano were around 4” deep in places. First job was to remove the piles of guano before washing down the roof and solar panels. The area was also treated with a disinfectant spray.
Once the area was cleaned the gap was blocked in with steel mesh. A black powder coated galvanised mesh has been used to make the proofing almost invisible from ground level. The final job was to clean out the gutters and wash down the fascia boards.

Definitely not what you want living in your loft. We were contacted after this customer had seen squirrels jumping on to his roof from an overhanging tree and hearing noises in the loft. Traps set amd the uninvited guests humanely dealt with. Proofing work can now be carried out to prevent any further access.

Rats had set up home under the railway sleeper steps at this customers house and found a constant food supply around the neighbours bird feeders. The well worn run between the nest entry point and bird feeders showed signs of a long running rodent issue. Treatment options were discussed with the customer and a suitable plan put in place.
