1st cut, w**d & feed, seeded and watered.

14th of June this year I started taking our decking down.

Between work and after hours just doing a bit here & there.

22nd August (today) 1st cut.

The turf took really well on very stoney, clay based soil - it's only been down 10 days. Left the edges for now.

Seeded over both the old bit of lawn and the new turf, same on the front.

Finished project.

Raised bed project lined up (by my lovely wife) somewhere else in the garden

Ol' school sleepers - wow!!
Don't make 'em like that anymore, thank god - they are heavy.

I spend a lot of time at this property, once per week, all day.

Great customer, showed them the water feature I put in my back garden and it was a 'Yes please'.

Got everything together, dug out and cleared any grass, roots and w**ds.

W**d membrane down, levelled up the most unlevel sleepers and laid the underlay and membrane.

Filled up with water, pump in, plug added, switched on and 'tadaaaahhh'!

Once the water has stretched the membrane in place, trim back, find a suitable urn or something similar, for the water to flow out of and then the fancy bit.

Aeration, any stones, lights and planting.

Finished apart from a little bit of turfing, aeration tubing needs hiding. Mega happy with this.

Beinning of another large scale 'woodland' clearance.

Jumped on this 1st thing.

Went onto plant up 2 Lavenders and a Rose (for a family member, different property).

Then into town to pick up a Cordyline and 2 Heucheras, back here, planted up for a feature by the doorway of the house.

Then back on the clearance.

Longstanding weekly customer.

Big clearance today.

Raspberries & bramble had taken over this orchard and were stifling everything else.

Couldn't see the Damson trees when I started.

Cleared around this main apple tree.

Much more to do on this section of the garden.

Just needs a little bit of tidying up.

Then get some pond plants to sit in it.

Planting for around it

Pond pump is an Oaze, 1500LPH, with 9 watt UV filter, turned right down, this water feature is only 2.5 metres by 1 metre.

There's a fountain but I doubt I'll put that on.

Few more stones in the bottom, hide the hose, love it!!

Mature Beech tree branch came down onto this customers lawn, leaving a right mess.

The smaller branches were cut by the customer with some help & everything left to be chipped.

The branch is still hanging but being supported by 3 limbs, bringing it down is in hand.

Video doesn't do it justice just how much and how big the branch was and how much was left to chip.

All done and dusted and area raked over and tidy.

If you've been following the posts we had a 13 or 14 year old rickety decked area.

'What happening here?'

Water feature. Taken from an online photo I found and we're making it fit our garden.

Need to put some corner brackets on the inside of the sleepers, smooth out the sand & lay the pond liner 'carpet'.

The large cobbles you see will be a big part of the finished water feature.

Once done, hopefully tomorrow, the EPDM (rubber) pond liner can be laid out, filled with water, left to settle, stapled in place and then it's the next stage .

Pump, filtration, pipework (through the urn) & planting.

I'm already doing one of these for a longstanding customer.

After that turf, seating area and spot & strip lighting to finish.

Chaos to calm.......

This is our garden,

The structure has been put in to accommodate the steep rise up to the Staffordshire Way and fields behind.

The planting is all my wife's responsibility and I daren't say anything.

How this deck has survived 13 years is beyond belief.

Ripped out and now digging sleeper beds and prepping for features and grass. Trying to get levels through clay and sandstone!

Onto the front - our beautiful 25 year old Acer is a spectacle.

Couple of others down the side and a beautiful, very warm evening.
