We are delighted to have been awarded the contract to undertake essential repairs to the iconic Dixons Chimney in Carlisle.
Constructed in 1836 by industrialist Peter Dixon, the 88m (290ft) chimney has been a defining feature of Carlisle’s skyline for almost 200 years.
The Grade II* listed structure will undergo a programme of specialist conservation and repair works, including:
🔹 Replacement of 150 degraded stone quoins
🔹 Helical bar crack-stitching repairs
🔹 Repointing of brickwork mortar joints
Working on a structure of this age, scale and historic importance requires a meticulous approach, with the works carefully planned and executed to preserve the character and integrity of the chimney.
We are proud to play our part in safeguarding this important piece of Carlisle’s industrial heritage and ensuring it can continue to stand tall for generations to come.
