Do you need more storage in the kitchen or more seating around a table? This project covers both in one! A comfy double seat bench combined with a large heavy duty pull out storage drawer. Not only did this have to work around the radiator, there is also a plug socket to consider in the back corner. With a bit of work in the design, this all came out perfectly with access still to everything. With a custom made cushion and some paint, this will be a cosy new space for the customer! Come back later to see the table featuring in the last pic getting some much needed tlc!

This job was to make some solid oak doors for a pre - built cabinet. This cabinet was previously used as a guitar collection display unit. This meant an open front and then split into small vertical sections. In order to change the function, I was able to use the materials that previously divided the main section to re make into doors. This meant an exact match of the colouring and wood grain as it has all been milled from the same timber. I sourced some matching handles and added an internal hanging rail to turn into a gorgeous solid oak wardrobe.

One of the coolest projects I’ve built more recently has got to be this back porch/gazebo area. I’m really chuffed with how it’s come together and think it both looks and works fantastically. It helps to bring the outside in and really lets that garden space feel so much closer by allowing the bifold doors to be opened into a nice dry area. This roof also lets in a lot of light through the 2 skylights whilst blocking out some of the heat of the sun in the summer. Not only does this look great in the day but it comes alive at night! There’s a lot of lighting detail involved in this with Color changing LED’s and strip lighting. All being remote controlled and switched from just inside the door. Thank you to Chris Daly at Chris Daly Security & Electrical for help with the electrical aspects of this project.

Once again, all the wooden materials came from W Burton & Sons which look fantastic as always. The metal roofing also came from MCS Roofing

If you have a keen eye and have been following previously, you can also spot the outbuilding in the background that was built last year! 👀

Another project was this custom display shelving unit. This has made an ordinary blank wall something of a feature. Each of the compartments made to display different ornaments. Made from some lovely oak veneer plywood from Harlow Timber Group

Building a basic lean to shed 🪵 Starting with the framing, I had a nice square base to work from, so the walls went up quickly with the roof rafters sitting on top. A big detail was getting the peak of the roof just below the soffits of the adjacent building. This gives maximum storage/head room as well as helping with keeping roof ridge nice and dry. It really started to come together with the cladding on the side using feather edge boards. It was difficult to get a view of the roof but you can see the green metal barge board which encases the full metal roof. A metal roof is great for longevity and minimal maintenance and the juniper green colour fit perfectly with all the green around. The last thing was making and fitting some custom tongue and groove doors. These I made in the workshop and then fitted on site!

Once again, all the materials sourced locally. The timber was from W Burton & Sons and the metal roofing from MCS Roofing.

Part of the milling process is planing the boards down to thickness. I love seeing the boards go through the planer and as the high spots get removed the smooth grain gradually reveals itself. These oak boards became a 3meter long cabinet top that went into the Stafford Barracks.

The gorgeous oak boards came from in the European oak supply.

A closer look at some under stairs storage built in Spring. These drawers were fitted with push to open hardware so the face of the wood was clean with no visible handles. I made the special effort to grain match all the drawer fronts so the whole face looks sleek and modern. Once fitted, the drawers were adjusted flush with the face frame and edge banding installed to hide the plywood edges! 🪵

A cabinet build to make a much more homely entrance hall. Not only a place to store some essentials, this cabinets main feature is to hide away an unsightly fuse board. This features solid oak top and bottom shelves and painted shaker style doors. It has the modern look to fit in with the surroundings of the property.

After sharing part of the process previously, this is the final cabinet in its beautiful final form in the Stafford Barracks. Standing at over three metres long it is a mammoth cabinet with a huge amount of storage. The solid oak top looks pristine with its satin finish both protecting the timber for many years to come but also bringing out the natural beauty of the oak. I had the pleasure of picking out the exact pieces I wanted from in their huge supply of hardwoods. The doors and internals are all made from oak veneer ply brought from which really matches perfectly with the solid oak top. The solid oak feet were from which again, tie everything together and keep everything sturdy and solid.
