⚡️🔥 Outdated electrics = serious fire risk 🔥⚡️

Started a first fix on a luxury bathroom in Stoke-on-Trent this week for one of our regular clients… but as always, we check what’s already there first 👀

🚨 What we found:
❌ No RCD protection on the bathroom lighting circuit

🔥 Smells like Burning 🔥

A small job repaired for a customer today, if it has any of the marks on your outlets like whats in this photo or the smell of burning plastic, please get it checked!

An electrical shower pull cord in this case fitted before we new the client, appears to be a loose connection on the supply neutral to the pull cord over the years has been smoldering and melted the unit.

If you have any accessories in this condition get them inspected.

🔥 House Fires & Faults 🔥

The importance of a good first fix on every installation!

This installation we attended for an EICR where the property had been poorly rewired in 2009, after initially taking the lid off the consumer unit noticing that one end of the ring had been removed from the breaker but was still live.

Then we dug deeper into the issues, the original install had been done using flat head nails to hold cables in place crushing insulation around several cables.

The damp issues within the property had caused the nails to rust and corroded into the cabling through the kitchen, this ment the cables had to be chased out and new cables installed to replace them. Installed inside of oval conduit to prevent further issues.
