When I say Bear House have done a garage conversion…please believe we dug the footings, bricked up the garage wall and redirected the waste pipes, put in the stud walls and cut that sh*tty cellotex and now tiling 😬 Did we do the plastering…hell no we left that to the pros 😂 did we do the plumbing- nope left that to another pro, nor did we screed the floor but I feel like I’ve given a good 70% at this bastard! 😂

Can I also lay claim to the fact that I did the warm felt roof a few years ago too 😉

Big thank you to .moss96, without you guys I may of cried 🥰

Just need to grout tomorrow but clean all the floors now quick so I can crack on. I’m feeling it now and prob won’t get home till 7 🥺😩

The best part of my day? ❤️

Seeing the world through my little girl’s eyes as she sits in the front of my van on the way to work.

This morning I learned that flowers can be every colour of the rainbow 🌈, bogies should apparently be picked whenever the mood strikes 🤢😂, and that getting new toothpaste is now considered a major life goal.

While today I’ll be laying bathroom tiles not roof tiles for a change (I’ll let you know how that goes later… 😬🙈), I get to start my day with a reminder that life doesn’t always have to be so serious.

Sometimes the best conversations happen on the drive to work. ❤️

Neighbour dispute… and I genuinely want to know what people think! 🤔

So… I’ve found myself in one of those neighbour situations that you never think will happen to you.

I’ve just paid to have this huge hedge removed because it had become diseased. It’s been there for over 30 years and, as you can see from the photo, the outside edge of it pretty much ran down the middle between both front gardens.

Now that it’s gone, my neighbour wants to put up a 6ft fence… but not where the hedge was.

Instead, they want to build it where the inside edge of the hedge started (shown by the white line in the photo), which would bring the fence much closer to our front garden and living room window😩😩. And I just got rid of the hedge to let light in.

Here’s the bit that’s confusing me…

If the hedge had supposedly always been on their land, why was nothing ever said over the last 30+ years? No one ever claimed ownership of it, asked for it to be moved, or offered to contribute towards maintaining it or removing it. I paid for the removal myself.

They’re now seeking independent professional advice, because the deeds don’t seem nearly as straightforward as first thought. It shows they were responsible for maintaining the shared gate and path and it popped their boundary line to the inside of the shared path on my side.

But putting all the legal stuff aside for a second…

Looking at this photo alone, what would you think was the fairest place to put a replacement fence?

🌿 Where the hedge had always formed the boundary?
Or…
📏 Where they’re now proposing?

I’m genuinely interested in what people think. Maybe I’m missing something, maybe I’m not! Please be kind—it’s stressful enough without the internet doing internet things! 😂

For a pantile roof, ain’t gonna lie…that’s bloody cushty. 😜😉💅🏻

You can shove it if you think you can do any better than me and little Lukey 🖕🏼😂

Went for lead over top of valley sheets and under ridge line, then mucked over.

Appreciate people sort of confirming what I wanted to do actually, I hesitated today.🤔

I’m sure someone will of done it better but I’m happy, little Luke is happy and now I’m ready to go home 🏡😊

Do you guys shave the top of your closed valleys?

In the end my ridge tile sits well over it and will have a big bed anyway, but not sure if it’s the heat getting to me but this threw me this afternoon.

Another closed valley completed today for one of our lovely customers in Sandhurst (who we absolutely adore! ❤️🐻).

We stripped out all of the old valley tiles, removed the crumbled mortar, and installed a brand new closed valley system to give the roof a long-lasting, watertight finish. 🔨🏠

And for anyone wondering… cutting a pantile roof for a closed valley system is not for the faint-hearted. 😅 It takes time, patience, and a lot of precision… but the end result is worth every minute.

Tomorrow we’ll be back to finish the other side, and then it’s job done. 🎉

Don’t be upset that I happen to be a good roofer. That sounds like a you problem. 🤷🏼‍♀️🔨

I remind my children every day that they can be anything they want to be. There will always be people who make unnecessary comments, question them, or try to knock their confidence.

The trick isn’t to let those voices become louder than your own.

So if my daughter wants to grow up believing she can work in construction 🧱, run a business, or do anything else she sets her mind to, that’s exactly what I’ll teach her.

And I’ll keep leading by example.

New gulley today, tiles stripped back and new layered torch on felt system installed.

The old felt came up so easy and the old felt was torn so we fitted new membrane and gulley.
