We were up in the Cairngorms last week for a monitoring survey as part of the Woodland Carbon Code’s Year 5 Verification. Stunning views and it was lovely to see such healthy regeneration of the Caledonian pine forest. It is really encouraging to see carbon funding incentivising this sort of behaviour that generates so many ecological, environmental, and social benefits.

🌳 New: The User’s Guide to the Woodland Carbon Code

The Woodland Carbon Code can be complex. Our new guide is designed to make it clearer.

From understanding carbon sequestration and the wider benefits of woodland creation, through to registering, validating and verifying a project, the guide breaks down the key stages of the Woodland Carbon Code and explains how the woodland carbon market works.

It also explores the process of selling Pending Issuance Units (PIUs) and Woodland Carbon Units (WCUs), helping landowners better understand the opportunities, obligations and decisions involved.

Vicky’s long standing leadership in overseeing the Woodland Carbon Code’s development has been vital to establishing credibility and trust in UK woodland carbon projects. Strong standards and rigorous oversight are essential to ensuring that carbon claims are credible, measurable, and durable.
