Recent project in Bridge of Allan - Full external clean and traditional stone restoration 🏡

The building was carefully DOFF cleaned, with all old ivy removed and the stone descaled to reveal the original fabric beneath. We carried out stone indents where required and fully restored the chimneys.

The entire building was repointed in breathable lime mortars, removing failing cementitious pointing that traps moisture and accelerates stone decay. This has stopped water ingress and allows the building to breathe as it was designed to.

We also completed detailed ashlar pointing around the quoins, window surrounds, and front façade.

The G.C team completed the work with a thorough clean up, as if we were never there!

🪨 Bespoke pillar restoration 🏡

This entrance pillar had begun to deteriorate: weathered stone, weakened joints, and signs of water ingress.

Our team fully dismantled the failing upper section, assessed the original build, and crafted a complete replacement of the full pillar (minus the house name stone). The new capstone and ball finial were carved by hand on-site, then fixed and finished as a seamless part of the existing structure.

This type of restoration is ideal if you have:

• Boundary walls or gate pillars showing cracks or instability
• Heritage features you’d prefer to preserve rather than replace
• Older stonework that needs new, bespoke elements to bring it back to life

If you’re unsure what your stonework needs, we’re happy to take a look and advise on the most aesthetic, long-term solution.
