🏠 3 tips before you book a full home renovation (people never think about these)
1. Set a contingency fund aside 💸
Even the best plans hit surprises (hidden damp, old wiring, uneven floors). Keep a buffer so the job doesn’t stall.
2. Choose finishes before the start date (and check lead times!) 🚪🛁
Doors, kitchens, tiles, sanitaryware, flooring, even radiators can have long wait times. If they’re not ordered early, you’ll be paying for delays and trades standing about.
3. Get your “decision list” agreed in writing ✅
You’ll be asked 50 wee questions mid-job (socket heights, tile layout, paint sheen, door swing, shower niche position). Decide these up front and sign it off AND it avoids last-minute changes, extra costs, and “I thought you meant…” moments.
