It’s been a busy couple of weeks working through the heatwave! ☀️🥵

Two load-bearing walls removed and two substantial steels installed, 152x152 UC, 4.5m and 4m in length. Both steel installations signed off by NHBC 🙌🏻

We worked closely with both the client and the structural engineer to make changes to the original design, removing the need for steel columns and helping to significantly reduce the overall cost of the project.

Now to fireproof the steels and complete the remaining remedial work!

Another garage conversion successfully signed off by Building Control.

This particular conversion was designed to create an additional bedroom, meaning it was essential that the new habitable room complied fully with current Building Regulations and fire safety requirements.

To achieve this, we installed a full-width window, providing not only increased natural light but also two fully opening fire escape windows to ensure compliance. We also bespoke built an internal cupboard to neatly house the gas and electrical meters, creating a practical and aesthetically pleasing finish.

In addition, we achieved a wall U-value of 0.17 W/m²K, exceeding the Building Regulations requirement and providing improved thermal performance and energy efficiency for the homeowner.

When appointing a builder, please ensure they are competent and knowledgeable in Building Regulations. If you’re told that Building Control approval isn’t required, ask why and then contact Building Control directly for confirmation. Unfortunately, too many garage conversions are being carried out by tradespeople with little or no understanding of the regulations, leaving homeowners with potentially unsafe and non-compliant spaces.

This installation was quite a feat from start to finish. Once the rip-out began, we uncovered a number of issues and non-compliant elements that simply couldn’t be ignored. This inevitably extended the programme significantly, but doing things properly has always been our priority. Some of the findings were risk-critical, so our duty of care came first, regardless of the delays that followed.
With over 35 years’ qualified experience and more than 100 bathrooms personally completed, you can rest assured your project is in safe hands and this is why people are happy to wait for my services. ❤️

That said… I think you’ll agree it’s turned out absolutely stunning.

We created a full feature wall with a large niche, remote-controlled colour-changing mood lighting and a sleek glass shelf. Porcelain timber-effect tiles add warmth, complemented by a bold jungle-themed feature wall. The 1200 x 400 concrete-effect wall tiles, finished with a central grout line, really sharpen the overall look.

A new shower with matt black fittings, a
new matt black towel radiator and an LED heated mirror with Bluetooth, complete the space, but if I’m honest, the bath has completely stolen the show here.

Sneak peek at one of the most time-consuming bathroom projects I’ve been involved in.
Once the rip-out was complete, we uncovered some significant issues that needed addressing. Yes, it caused delays, but rushing isn’t how I work. Every problem was properly corrected to ensure this bathroom is safe, fully compliant, and finished to the highest standard. Quality first, always.

I just want to take a moment to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported me and my business this year. Supporting my business, even just by, liking, commenting or sharing my posts doesn’t just support the work that I do, it supports my family, and for that I am truly grateful.

Thank you to those who have shown patience, understanding and loyalty during delays and challenges caused by circumstances outside of my control. Your support and patience has not gone unnoticed and means more than you know.

Last one before the Christmas break 🎄

Yet again, we’ve created a cloakroom with that true 5-star hotel feel.
This was a challenging design to bring to fruition due to the layout and limited space, but I think the end result really works.

We installed matt black porcelain wall tiles, complemented by a timber-effect feature wall with integrated LED downlighting. The floor is finished with matt white tiles, and the walls, ceiling and cupboard were painted in Farrow & Ball Flat Matt for a soft, premium look.

Fixtures include a Crosswater matt black tap, a Lusso matt white basin, and a Lusso back-to-wall rimless pan with a concealed cistern and matt black flush plate.

A bespoke cupboard was built to maintain clean lines while discreetly housing the consumer unit. Antique brass handles and a matching pull cord were added to introduce warmth and contrast, tying the whole scheme together.

A recent kitchen installation we completed in Stevenage.

This was a fantastic project to undertake, with a number of challenges along the way and several design changes throughout including having to bespoke build a unit around the new boiler. However, I think you’ll agree that the end result is an absolutely stunning kitchen and living space.

The kitchen features royal matt blue doors with oak units, complemented perfectly by a white quartz worktop, supplied and fitted by LP Worktop Specialists Ltd Lydia Shepherd

To elevate the space further, we installed a stained oak feature wall, 600 × 600 porcelain floor tiles, and colour-changing LED downlights to enhance both ambience and functionality. An anthracite designer radiator was also added to complete the overall look and tie everything together beautifully.

With over 34 years’ experience, you can rest assured your project is in safe, professional hands.

I think you’ll agree, this is a beautiful kitchen and just in time for Christmas 🎄
