🚛 What You’ll Do:
As a Road Freight Operator, you will be required to perform the following as well as support the wider groupage operations team:
- Handle end-to-end movement of groupage freight across Europe.
- Manage the day-to-day operations for our clients.
- Maintain communication with customers, overseas partners, and internal teams.
- Book and track shipments, helping to resolve issues quickly and professionally.
- Being involved in the completion of all necessary documentation.
- Supporting continuous improvement of service levels and customer satisfaction.

What we’re looking for:
✅ 2+ years’ experience in European road freight operations
✅ Strong understanding of taxable kilos & manual cost calculations
✅ Experience with customs paperwork & transport documentation
✅ Excellent customer service & teamwork skills

Today we say farewell to an absolute gem of a lady who has been a mainstay of our team far before Ziegler was on the map in the UK.

Jaqueline 'Jac' Farrer started her career in freight forwarding as a 17-year-old back in 1977 for Haniel as an export copy typist. Through the years, company buyouts led her to Phoenix and then to Ziegler in 2009. As a motivated and dependable member of the logistics team, she progressed to Key Account Manager.

During her incredible 49-year career, Jac has seen the industry undergo massive changes—from manual input on typewriters to fully automated account systems.

Jac, we've been privileged to have you as such an integral part of our team, and we will miss you deeply. You've earned this retirement—now it's time to go and enjoy it! 🥂✨

This month, Paul Ridgers takes over as Manchester branch manager for air and ocean, replacing Andy Domville, who was an instrumental part of the Ziegler UK team for 11 years.

Paul started in the freight industry at Heathrow after leaving school in 1987 as an Export Post-flight clerk, later holding various roles across Air/Sea, Imports, and Exports. Moving to the North West in 2006, he worked on the "other side of the fence" setting up a shipping department for a commercial shipper, before joining the shipping line CMA-CGM on their Import inside sales and quotes team.

Paul joined Ziegler Manchester in April 2014 as an Import Sea Freight clerk, later taking on Air Imports. Working closely with Andy from 2015, Paul progressed to Operations Supervisor and then Operations Manager, taking on more responsibility overseeing the operations team.

While staying close to the operations team, Paul's new role adds financial responsibilities (budgets and staffing), closer collaboration with Sales to generate business, and more face-to-face client meetings.

Paul stated: “this is a new challenge that I am looking to attack head-on & continue to grow the Ziegler branch here, supported fully by the team around me.”
