Consumer unit and supply tail upgrade today in Ashton Under Lyne. In this property the wiring is 60 + years old and so the lighting circuit has no Earth conductor. This doesn’t stop us from carrying out the work, it just gives us the added responsibility of advising the customer, ensuring that all the light fittings in the property are Class 2 double insulated and that all switches are plastic. That aside, the wiring tested out great and the unit was successfully upgraded! 😊

Consumer unit upgrade in a rental apartment in Romiley this morning. A big part of the upgrade is always the testing. An upgrade can’t be carried out effectively without a thorough test. One of those tests is the end to end dead test of the ring main (sockets). We are making sure that the Live, Neutral and Earth conductors are forming a complete ring and we are also making sure that the readings on the Live and Neutral are more or less the same, proving decent connection around the circuit. The readings at this property are spot on. 0.24 Ohms on both Live and Neutral. Onto the Insulation Resistance testing next and then we’ll get the new consumer unit in place ready to go! 😊

George Electrical has been a trusted trader on Checkatrade for just over two years now. Yesterday I received my 100th review. Feedback is very important to me as not only does it help me to win more work, it also gives me a chance to reflect on what I can improve. I always like to believe I will go above and beyond for the customer. Some of the horror stories I hear from customers about fellow tradesmen not returning calls, not showing up when they are supposed to, not putting right their mistakes. The list is endless. Consumer Unit upgrade in Stalybridge this morning. Replaced the existing unit with a metal unit, including a surge protective device and RCBO protection for individual circuits. New supply tails also installed. A full test of the existing installation was carried out, both dead and live testing and certification issued. 😎

Installation of two stunning light fittings this morning in Chapel-en-le-Frith. I liked them so much I felt they were most definitely worthy of a picture. Also changed the existing light switches to dimmers and installed dimmable LED lamps to enhance the effect. 😊
