What do you do and who are you?*
My name is William Turner and I am the owner of Turner woodworking. I first was inspired with DIY when I was younger and I was always very much your hands-on learner during high school throughout design and technology. Initially, I wanted to pursue a career in carpentry but I decided to then go down the road of psychology of which I have multiple qualifications. But I decided to pursue the business a couple of years ago and I haven’t really looked back. I love what I do and I find real enjoyment out of it.
*How did you start your journey?*
I started Turner woodworking about 2 years ago, I do lots of different things within the business, including contracting, Gardening, painting and decorating but the real heart of the business is making bespoke wooden products Including furniture and home decor products.
*What do you enjoy most about attending markets?*
The Codsall and Wergs Garden Centre was my first ever makers market! I thoroughly enjoyed it, and would love to return. All the other sellers are lovely, and I was very happy to network with the other vendors and sellers.
*What inspires you with your offerings?*
My products will last you a lifetime. From English Oak, To African Walnut, these woods and products will last in your home for many years. I love to recycle and reuse all my raw materials, so many of my products are from businesses that have excess materials. Some of my products are very basic such as my outdoor stops and some are very complex such as my chessboards. Please have a look at my social media if you are interested in any products. Additionally, if you are interested in having anything bespoke made, please message the page directly.
*Give us an idea of a typical day in the life of you when you’re prepping for a market*
While my inaugural time at the market was very hectic including being up at the early hours of the morning, making sure that I have everything prepped and ready. The hours and hours of sanding, the days worth of putting finishes on products, all these blood sweat and tears (and the occasional splinter) Really does reflect in my products that I produce.
*Where can people see, buy, or support your work*
Find me next at The Craft and Makers Market in Newport on the 3rd October.
