Good to see the lads out in their, R&B training tops after a tough fixture away at the weekend. Commiserations to the boys on the penalties defeat but congratulations to Aaron Breeze who we hear had a cracking game!

HMP YOI Brinsford 4-4 Wildwood FC (Brinsford won 4-1 on pens)
We faced a really tough opposition today in the cup, we faced Brinsford who had won all their previous league games, in the league above ourselves.
After a warm up that lasted 2 minutes due to the prison needing to kick off early, our backs were against the wall. We did make it in plenty of time but due to checks etc, it took a while. Tbf, I’d be double checking these lads too.
Due to the short warm up, last weeks MOTM Ryan Land, was forced off after 5 minutes due to a recurring injury involving the groin.
We saw ourselves 2 goals down in a matter of minutes, but unlike previously, we responded well.
Super sub Max Roberts levelled the game which made it 2-2 within 20 minutes. The first goal was excellent forward play following up from a shot, his second goal sent their defender ordering the hot dogs, and I think he may still be sliding.
Brinsford then took the lead again due to some poor defending, which was basic and shouldn’t have been allowed. The skipper Casey Smack then equalised again with a cool calm finish as he always does - a man on fire.
As we began the second half, we made a couple of tactical changes, which lead in our favour. We took the lead from a really well worked goal. It was definitely Matt Parton who scored, and not an own goal.
If I’m being honest, I missed their equaliser as I was warming up, Fionn Edensor was too tired, and kept asking to be subbed, I played through agony for 15 minutes, so couldn’t tell you what happened for their goal, but I do know Fionn put in a graft, after very little sleep.
There were some really good displays out there today and we have to take positives. Losing on penalties is a 50/50, unfortunately it’s the luck of the draw. I won’t say who missed but Casey & Hamish are never allowed to take one again.
Matt Parton was as brilliant as ever, he’s rapidly becoming one of the of the most important players in our team, play him anywhere and you’re guaranteed a 7/8 out of 10. Jakson had tough opponents today, as they had incredibly good forwards, he was meant to start in midfield today, yet did a stellar job at CB. Hamish Farmer was as good as always, lead the team on the pitch and created what he could. Max Roberts sparked a lease of life into the side, and probably should’ve scored a hat trick, a very solid performance. The main man Aaron Breeze was excellent, however due to injuries he had to shift from LB to CB, and was solid. He put in a really good shift, and was up against against some quality players, he played out of position but you wouldn’t have known, he should be really proud of himself today.
The lads we played against today were a great craic, and probably the best bunch of lads we’ve come across so far, can’t fault them on a personal level.
Today’s loss doesn’t mean we are out of the cup, we are now entered into another cup, involving teams who also lost today.
Plenty of positives to take away from today. Had we been more clinical, we would’ve beaten a team in the league above, who had won every game in the league so far. If we could defend set pieces we’d be a menace.
