Garden Renovation Part 7 🏡🔨

A nerve-racking one… cutting the spotlight holes and trusting those measurements! 😅💡 70mm hole saw used drop a comment with your prediction on which JCC Lighting spotlights were used ?

Then onto mist coating, wall prep and skirting boards.

Garden Renovation Part 6 🏡🔨

Insulation in, joints taped, 79 million drywall screws later 😂🔩 and the plasterboard was up.

A fresh skim of plaster and suddenly it’s starting to look like a proper room rather than a building site!

Garden Renovation Part 5 🏡🔨

This stage was all about the finishing touches to the roof.

We clad the canopy ceiling with tongue & groove boards, which completely transformed the look of the outdoor space. Once all the boards were up, it was time for the part I’d been putting off… drilling the holes for the spotlights! 😅

Even though I’d measured everything multiple times, there’s always that moment of doubt before the hole saw touches the ceiling. Thankfully, every spotlight landed exactly where it should. 👌💡

The final jobs were fitting the fascia boards and gluing down the EPDM rubber roof, making sure every edge and joint was sealed properly to keep the building completely watertight for years to come.

Garden Renovation Part 4 😂⚡️

Today’s mission: turn a garden room into a mini house.

Ran cables for:
🔌 Sockets inside & out
🔊 Speakers inside & out
💡 Downlights
♨️ Hot tub supply
🔥 BBQ area supply

Basically everything except a postcode and council tax bill.

Also spent a fair bit of time drawing lighting plans that look like they’ve been produced by a toddler armed with a crayon. Luckily my wiring is much better than my handwriting.

All hidden away soon, but these are the bits that make the finished project work properly.

Garden Renovation Part 3 😂 ☔️

Peel back the tarps.
Board the roof.
Drive approximately 9 million screws.

Simple.

The real question is: which lasted longer, the batteries or the British weather?

🔴 Milwaukee Fuel + 5.5Ah HO
🟡 DeWalt XR + 15Ah FlexVolt

Both put in a shift while I hid from the rain in my Velocity waterproof jacket 🌧️

One roof boarded, one step closer to the finished garden room. Stay tuned for the next update 👊

Garden Renovation Part 2 🔨

The porcelain patio is down, the concrete base is poured and ready to build on, with all ducting installed for future services.

From there, the build really started to take shape. Walls and roof assembled, followed by plenty of nail gun action to get the shell completed. Once erected, we boarded the exterior ready for the cladding stage.

Next up were the canopy support posts and roof structure, creating a covered outdoor space.

Then, as always, the British weather arrived right on cue ☔️ so the temporary roof and tarps went up to keep the project moving.
