October is a great time to plant bulbs – here's what you can do now.

🪏 Snowdrops can be planted in September and October, and even into November. Aim for about 10cm deep, or roughly three times their depth.

🪏 Crocuses are great for bringing some colour to the colder months. Plant them around 10cm deep, or three times their depth.

🪏 Daffodils are a classic autumn bulb job. Pop them in at about 15cm deep, or three times their depth, and future-you will be very grateful come next year.

🪏 Tulips are best saved November and December. When the time comes, plant them around 20cm deep, or three times their depth.

🪏 Alliums can go in during September and October for a bold spring display. Globe alliums need a deeper spot – around 30cm, or three times their depth.

Re-seeding a lawn decimated by the hot dry summer.
4 tons of grade one soil = 80 barrows, 12 shovel fulls in each barrow, evenly distributed for raking, levelling, seeding, rolling and raking again. 5 and a half hours. No need to go to the gym

New terrace layout stepped level changes, curves and circles. Borders with half standard lollipops, lavender, low hedge edging, ceratostigmia willmottianum, salvia neon and verbena bonariensis. Bulbs to be added this autumn....
