🌟 Good News Story 🌟

Work Experience Success at Ben’s Bugs Pest & Bird Management.

Lewis completed his standard one week work experience placement with Ben’s Bugs Pest & Bird Management and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. His enthusiasm and commitment were quickly noticed, leading to a follow up opportunity after the YMCA reached out to explore a more ongoing work experience arrangement.

Since then, Lewis has been attending Ben’s Bugs each week, developing valuable workplace skills including timekeeping, communication, and customer service, while also gaining hands on knowledge of different pests and how they are professionally managed.

As part of his journey, Lewis also attended PestEx, organised by the British Pest Control Association, where he gained a deeper insight into the industry. He explored exhibitor stands, met suppliers, and attended talks from experienced pest control professionals.

This experience has helped Lewis grow in confidence and he has now expressed a strong interest in pursuing a career in the pest control industry.

Lewis will be joining Ben’s Bugs as a trainee pest control technician, working alongside the British Pest Control Association onboarding programme.

We look forward to welcoming Lewis as part of our team!

A recently completed pigeon netting job we have completed in partnership with Essex Pest Control | Essex Pest Proof 🐦

This hospital recently had two new water tanks installed and required it to be proofed against any pigeon activity.

A clothing store we look after, started seeing a few moths in the stock room.

Moth activity is a worry for any clothing store, especially if their garments are of natural fibre & it can quickly get out of control.

Firstly we needed to identify the type of moth, that way we can advise on next steps - in this case it’s a pale backed clothes moth.

Pale backed clothes moth are mostly associated with dried foods, animal waste and their nests, allowing us to widen our survey and trying to locate the source of the issue.

Not a pest we typically treat all that often but Silverfish are more common than most realise.

These fast-moving pests love dark, damp and humid areas and can often be found in bathrooms, kitchens, lofts and other hidden spaces.

Any infestations can normally be resolved with a decent dehumidifier 👍🏻 however if the issue persists, please contact a professional pest control company for advice.

Ant eggs… or Rice Krispies?! 👀😂

I opened the door and disturbed this little operation and within 0.5 SECONDS those eggs had been picked up and evacuated.

Not moved.

Not slowly carried away.

EVACUATED. 😂

I have never seen anything like it! These ants had a better emergency response plan than most of us. 🚨🐜

The weather this year has sent the pest world into complete chaos. 🎢🌦️ They don’t know if they’re coming, going, hibernating or setting up camp!

We’re seeing a really unusual influx of ant infestations for this time of year, and the activity has definitely caught us by surprise.

So if you’ve noticed ants suddenly appearing in your home, you’re certainly not alone. 👀

When a client says they’ve only seen 1 or 2 cockroaches 🪳 for a week 🙃

These monitors were down for 6 days and caught cockroaches of all stages - a heavy infestation to say the least!

German cockroaches can produce 10,000 offspring in a year and infestations are often at their worst in the summer months 😵‍💫🪳

🐝🏡Did you know that when a honeybee colony becomes too crowded, around half of the bees leave with their queen to search for a new place to call home? 🌼

This is called a swarm, and it's a completely natural part of a honeybee's life.

Our rescued colony made that journey before finding safety at one of HARP's women's services, where they're now settling into their new home. 💛

Over the next few weeks, we'll be sharing their story as we learn more about beekeeping and watch the hive grow.

🍯 We might even have some HARPMade Honey to share with you one day!
