Working in London is great…

Until there’s no site parking. 😅

Then the ladders have to come off the van, and suddenly that short walk to site feels like a full workout! 💪😂

Who needs a gym when you’ve got London footpaths and a set of ladders to carry? 🪜😂

🌿 Work with us Wednesday!

This week we’re highlighting something a little different.

Some of the PFS team have swapped the office and our usual sites for the garden! 👩‍🌾🌱

We’ve been volunteering at our local Havens Hospice, helping to improve and maintain the gardens for the patients who use them.

The team got stuck in, put in a huge amount of effort and, most importantly, left feeling like we’d made a genuinely positive impact. 💚

Havens Hospice provides expert care to patients and their families, but like so many charities, they rely heavily on fundraising and volunteers to keep their incredible work going. They don’t receive anywhere near the level of funding needed to provide everything they do, which makes the contribution of volunteers and the local community even more important.

We felt extremely privileged to be able to play our small part.

A huge thank you to everyone at Havens Hospice for having us and for the amazing work you do every day.

We’ll be back soon!

🚨 The difference between a fire panel that’s been installed and looked after properly… and one we’ve taken on this year.

I think we know which one is going to have a few recommendations heading back to the client! What would be better, going ahead with them!

Fire alarm panels can sometimes get neglected. After all, they’re only a problem when they start beeping, right?

Wrong! ❌

A fire alarm system needs regular maintenance, attention and care to keep it reliable when it matters most. Issues can build up long before that familiar beep starts demanding your attention.

And it’s always a little upsetting to see a GENT system needing this much attention. 😬

You can usually tell well-maintained panel when you see one!

Look after your fire alarm system, and it’ll be there to look after you. 🔥

🔥 Getting hands-on with fire safety!

Recently, some of our office and engineering teams took part in Fire Marshal training, an opportunity all of our engineers get to experience as part of their development.

The team got to learn directly from experienced firefighters about the hazards of fire, how quickly situations can develop, and most importantly, how to prevent, protect and respond when things go wrong.

And it wasn't all classroom learning… 👀

The team also got hands-on themselves, putting their training into practice and using a fire extinguisher to tackle a real fire. 🧯🔥

It’s one thing to talk about fire safety, but there’s nothing quite like experiencing it first-hand!

Recently, our Minor Projects team have been busy carrying out modification works and installing fire alarm systems across London. 🚨

But even our teams need a break! Luckily, they had some pretty impressive London skyline views to enjoy while they were taking five. 🌆☕

This week, we’re introducing Louise, one of our Client Account Managers. 👋

Louise is often the first point of contact for our clients, providing support and a direct line into the different teams across PFS.

She works closely with our departments to understand the challenges our clients are facing, help find solutions and, most importantly, keep them updated every step of the way. 🤝

It’s all about good communication, getting the right people involved and making sure our clients know what’s happening.

Earlier this year, we took part in Play on the Pitch 2026, supporting the brilliant team at Havens Hospices. ⚽️💙

Havens Hospices does incredible work supporting local families when they need it most, providing care, comfort and support to children and adults across our community.

At PFS, we always try to do our bit to support the community around us, and events like Play on the Pitch are a great reminder of just how important local fundraising is. Every event, donation and bit of support helps Havens continue the amazing work they do. 👏

And we’re not finished yet… 👀

Later this year, we’ll be supporting Havens further, and we cannot wait to share what the PFS team get up to (and how they get on!) with you.
