📦🔧 It's Friday... and that means one thing – time to restock!

After another busy week of servicing, maintaining and installing life safety systems, our engineers have been using plenty of stock. Before they head into the weekend, it's time to replenish the vans and get everything ready for the week ahead.

Sometimes the simplest methods are still the best. Boxes, initials and a quick stock check keep the process efficient, before everything is updated on our CRM to ensure every engineer's van stock is accurate and ready to go.

This week, our teams have been kitting up with NOTIFIER devices and the latest NimbusGo units, making sure they have the right equipment for every job.

A well-stocked van means less downtime, quicker repairs and a better service for our customers. Ready for whatever next week brings! 🚐💪

💻🔧 It's not just about installing devices...

Whether it's fitting a brand-new detector, replacing an existing device, or changing how a system responds during an alarm condition, our Works Engineers need to know every panel and its software inside out.

Programming life safety systems takes technical knowledge, precision and experience. Every change has to be carefully considered, tested and verified to ensure the system performs exactly as designed when it's needed most.

Of course, there's one skill that doesn't appear on any training course... balancing a laptop while trying to make those programming changes! 😅

Behind every reliable fire alarm system is an engineer combining hands-on expertise with technical know-how to keep buildings and the people inside them protected.

🎤 Testing... 1, 2, 3... Can anyone hear me?

Today it's all about PAVA (Public Address & Voice Alarm) systems.

Not every evacuation is as simple as sounding a fire alarm and leaving the building. Many of the larger and more complex buildings we maintain operate phased evacuation strategies, where different areas are evacuated in a controlled sequence to keep occupants safe and prevent congestion.

That's where a reliable PAVA system becomes essential. Clear, intelligible voice messages provide occupants with the right information at the right time, helping emergency procedures run smoothly when every second counts.

From routine testing and maintenance to ensuring every speaker and message performs exactly as intended, our engineers are helping keep buildings prepared for the unexpected.

It's Monday, and we're back out there doing what we do best, testing, maintaining and installing life safety systems to keep people and buildings protected. 🚨

Not every fire safety device is in plain sight. Some of the most important detection is hidden away in risers, ceiling voids, roof spaces and other concealed areas, quietly protecting the parts of a building most people never see.

It's a good reminder that effective fire protection goes far beyond what's visible.

👋 Work With Us Wednesday | Meet Jack

This week, we're introducing Jack from our Projects Department.

Jack joined PFS as a Trainee Estimator, where he quickly showed a real willingness to learn, developing his knowledge of quoting and designing fire and life safety systems.

Recently, Jack made the move into our Projects team, where he's working closely with our Senior Estimator to continue building his technical knowledge and experience. It's all part of his journey towards becoming a highly skilled estimator.

Jack is known throughout the business for being approachable, hardworking, and always happy to help his colleagues. It's fantastic to see his commitment paying off, and we're excited to watch his career continue to grow.

August is here, and our engineers are ready for another busy month. 💪

From planned maintenance, testing and remedial works to responding to call-outs. And if that means pointing a member of the public in the right direction while we're on site, we're always happy to help there too.

💡 Did you know?

Most people know about the importance of carrying out a weekly fire alarm test, but your emergency lighting also needs a monthly functional test (often called a "flick test").

A monthly emergency lighting test involves briefly interrupting the normal power supply to confirm that each emergency light illuminates correctly in emergency mode. It's a simple check that helps ensure your escape routes will remain lit if there's a power failure.

A new month is the perfect reminder to make sure both checks are part of your routine.
