But here's the question...

Can AI replace the judgement, experience and expertise needed when making decisions about buildings, defects and risk?
Watch the video to find out where AI fits into the future of surveying.

πŸ‘‡ What's your opinion? Will AI replace surveyors, or simply become another tool in the toolbox? Let us know in the comments.

The best projects start with clear expectations.

Before we begin any work, we'll agree exactly what we're doing, what's expected from both sides, and how we'll work together.

Because we're a time-based professional service, that might mean agreeing a set number of hours or making sure key information is shared promptly so we can help as efficiently as possible.

If you've never instructed a Chartered Surveyor before, don't let the formalities put you off - they're simply there to protect everyone involved and ensure the process runs smoothly.

The paperwork is professional. The people behind it are friendly.

If you're thinking about working with us, get in touch - we'd be happy to answer any questions before you get started.

Sometimes, the people who need expert advice the most are the least able to access it.

That's why we're proud to offer a number of pro bono surveying hours to support members of our community facing genuine property challenges.

From helping charities to supporting families dealing with building disrepair, we're committed to making expert property advice more accessible wherever we can.

Every case is different, and while we can't provide pro bono support in every situation, we'll always consider how we can help - whether that's through free advice or reduced fees.

If you or someone you know could benefit, send us a message or get in touch through our website. We'd be happy to discuss your situation.

Free advice has its limits... good CPD doesn't.

That's why we offer CPD sessions for fellow professionals, helping teams build confidence in topics like Party Wall matters, dilapidations and wider building surveying issues.

Whether you're an architect, property manager, agent or another industry professional, we can deliver sessions that are informative, practical and genuinely useful.

🚨 Don't waste thousands on the wrong energy upgrades.

Before you install insulation, ask yourself:
🏑 What type of property do I own?
πŸ’· What's my budget?
πŸ”¨ How disruptive will the work be?
πŸ’§ Could it create unintended issues like damp?

Not every home needs the same solution - and no, your property doesn't need to meet today's standards overnight.

One of the most overlooked areas of a home? The floor. πŸ‘‡

Poorly insulated floors can contribute to heat loss, cold drafts, and reduced comfort levels.

Whether it's insulating beneath suspended timber floors or upgrading a concrete floor during renovation, the right solution can improve your property's overall performance.

Most buildings are underperforming - and it’s costing owners more than they realise.

Thermal insulation plays a critical role in reducing heat loss, improving EPC ratings, and enhancing long-term asset value.
It slows heat transfer between internal and external environments - reducing heating demand in winter and overheating in summer.

πŸ“Š UK data suggests households could save hundreds annually through proper insulation (Energy Saving Trust).

🚨 Building near your neighbour's boundary? Don't make this costly mistake.

Many homeowners assume they can start building as long as the work stays close to the boundary. That's not always the case.

Under the Party Wall Act:
βœ”οΈ Building **up to** the boundary? You'll usually need to serve a notice.
βœ”οΈ Building **across** the boundary? You'll need your neighbour's written consent.
βœ”οΈ Excavating within **3 or 6 metres** of a neighbouring structure? The Act could apply too.

The catch? It all depends on knowing exactly where the legal boundary is.

Get that wrong and you could:
❌ Serve notice to the wrong person
❌ Build on someone else's land
❌ Delay your project or end up in a costly dispute

πŸ’¬ Planning an extension or building work? A quick conversation now could save you a lot of time, money, and stress later.
