🏛️ A LEAK HIDDEN BENEATH HISTORY...
Recently we were called to investigate a small damp patch appearing on a carpet within the historic God's House Tower & Almshouses in Southampton, a heritage property owned and managed by The Queen's College.
At first glance it appeared to be a minor issue.
However, once investigations began, the true extent of the problem quickly became apparent.
🔍 Damp staining to walls
🔍 Saturated carpets
🔍 Waterlogged underlay
🔍 Sodden timber floorboards
After carefully lifting the flooring, we discovered the culprit...
💧 A ruptured water main concealed beneath the floor.
Water had been escaping below the building and travelling unseen beneath the flooring structure before finally revealing itself as a damp patch on the surface.
Working within historic buildings always presents unique challenges. Every investigation must be carried out carefully to minimise disruption whilst preserving the fabric of the building.
Thankfully the leak was located, repaired and the drying process could begin.
It's a great reminder that what appears to be a small damp patch can often be a sign of a much larger hidden problem beneath the surface.

This week marks Charlie's final days at college before completing his qualifications and taking the next step in his career within the plumbing, heating and gas industry.
Over the last few years, Charlie has balanced college studies with hands-on experience on site, learning everything from boiler installations and servicing to plumbing repairs and heating system upgrades.
He's shown a fantastic attitude, a willingness to learn and a commitment to delivering quality workmanship for our customers.
We're incredibly proud of the progress he's made and the engineer he's becoming.
Now it's time for the final push! 💪
