Both these stoves are well used, and swept every year.

The first stove, the soot is really fine, like dust, meaning good quality seasoned wood has been burned.

The second stove has a build up of tar coating the inside of the liner. This is hazardous and can cause a chimney fire. This is the result of burning poor quality or damp fuel and not using the air control properly.
