🌱 Fresh turf on Cary Green today 🌱

It's been more than 2 years since part of Cary Green opposite the Pavilion was tarmacked for a 7-car taxi rank. The background for how this came about and the action we took can be found here: facebook.com/SaveTorquayPavilion/posts/1068925371755300

We are delighted to see that the first-phase of restoring this part of Cary Green has been actioned, and it's goodbye to all that tarmac. A temporary 3-car holding rank remains on Vaughan Road (for now) with all vehicles fully off the Green. Working in collaboration with other local groups, we're excited to see what additional improvements can be brought for this space, which is coming back to life after historic neglect.

The Pavilion opposite remains fully protected following huge progress on securing the building, making it watertight and safeguarding its historic elements. Further updates on that to follow.

March 2026 also marks 7 years since the success of the first stage of our Community campaign, which began as 'Save Cary Green'. Amongst other achievements, people power prevented this space from being turned into a car park. Every time we see individuals, couples and families enjoying the area, we're grateful for the public support that sustained the initial campaign until its conclusion.
