THIS MIGHT UPSET A FEW…
After 15+ years of fitting and adapting IKEA furniture, we’ve watched the “IKEA hack” become absolutely huge on Instagram….especially for accounts just looking for likes.
And genuinely, some of them are brilliant. Some not so much 🙈
What I don’t particularly like is the Home “influencer” maths.
“I was quoted £5,000 by a professional but I did exactly the same thing myself for £1,500.”
Except you didn’t.
You didn’t pay for your own labour. You probably haven’t included your tools, wasted materials, countless trips to IKEA pretending you like meatballs, f*ck ups, deliveries or the weekends you spent doing it. And, in most cases, you haven’t produced the same finished product either.
That doesn’t make your DIY project bad.
It just makes the comparison slightly ridiculous 🫠
