The IWRAP rebrand is coming together…

Back in May, I made the decision to change the business name from JF Architectural Wraps to IWRAP.

Since then, I’ve gradually been updating everything with the new name and branding — and the latest additions are the new workwear and a new entrance mat to use when I’m working in customers’ homes.

Changing the name after being established for several years was a big decision, but I’m really pleased with how it’s all coming together.

Same person, same service and attention to detail — just a new name and a fresh new look.

Not everything I wrap has doors and drawers.

This staircase was given a completely new look using architectural vinyl.

The existing timber was refinished in a contemporary washed-oak effect vinyl, with the handrails wrapped in a contrasting black metal finish.

A very different look — without replacing the staircase.

It’s a good example of what architectural vinyl can be used for beyond kitchens and fitted furniture.

Someone asked in a local Benfleet group last night for recommendations from people who’d had their kitchen wrapped.

Seeing previous customers start recommending IWRAP was genuinely lovely.

There really isn’t a better advert for a small local business than happy customers taking the time to do that.

Something you might not know about the way I work…

My job isn’t to convince everyone who contacts me that vinyl wrapping is the answer.

When I’m helping someone decide between wrapping their existing doors and replacing them, I want that decision to be based on what’s right for their project — not which option benefits me most.

Sometimes wrapping will be the most cost-effective solution. In other cases, replacing the doors may actually work out cheaper.

And occasionally, I’ll suggest an alternative that I don’t provide myself if I genuinely believe it would be better suited to what someone wants to achieve.

I’d much rather give someone honest advice than sell them something I don’t believe is the right solution.

For me, that’s simply part of running IWRAP the way I believe it should be run.

Damaged doesn’t always mean it needs replacing.

These fitted wardrobes and matching dressing table had certainly seen better days.

A complete vinyl wrap transformation gave them a fresh new lease of life.

Sometimes, what you already have is worth saving.

When factory finishes start to delaminate, simply wrapping over them isn’t the answer.

The failing surface needs to be completely removed first — but that’s only the beginning.

Once stripped back to raw MDF, the surface is properly prepared: silicone and contamination removed, two coats of sealer applied, then sanded and primed before the new vinyl goes on.

Because vinyl is only as good as the surface it’s applied to.

Rather than simply covering the problem, the surface underneath is prepared specifically for the new vinyl — helping to ensure good adhesion and the best possible finish.

It’s this preparation that makes the difference.

The wrapping might be the satisfying part to watch, but what happens underneath is just as important.

Did you know that even solid wood kitchen doors can be vinyl wrapped?

For this kitchen, the original solid wood doors, drawers and surrounding fixed elements were wrapped in a soft-touch white, giving the whole room a much lighter, fresher look without replacing the kitchen.

Same kitchen. Completely different look.

How much does it cost to wrap an average-sized kitchen?

It’s one of the questions I’m asked most often.

The honest answer is that there’s no such thing as an average kitchen.

Two kitchens might look similar in size but have completely different door styles, be in very different condition and require very different amounts of preparation. A flat slab door, for example, is generally quicker to wrap than a recessed handle or Shaker door.

The vinyl finish chosen can also affect the cost.

That’s why every quotation I provide is tailored to the individual kitchen.

The easiest way for me to give you an estimated price is simply to send me a few photos.

And if the kitchen’s a bit untidy, don’t worry. I’m looking at the doors, panels, layout and condition — not the washing up on the worktop 😊

Not every wrap is about changing the look.

Kitchens can become damaged for all sorts of reasons, and sometimes that damage doesn’t necessarily mean replacing the kitchen.

In this particular case, several of the doors were badly damaged after a toaster on the worktop caught fire, while the original finish elsewhere had also started to fail.

The damaged finish was removed, the doors carefully prepared and then professionally wrapped in a very close match to the original colour.

The aim wasn’t to transform the kitchen — it was to restore it.

So, if part of your kitchen has become damaged, it doesn’t always mean it needs replacing. In some cases, the damage can be repaired and the surface professionally wrapped to give it a new lease of life.
