Remember the kitchen I showed recently with the different colour visualisations?

This is why the existing doors were being replaced.

The original factory-applied finish had started to delaminate across the majority of the doors.

Although delaminated doors can often be successfully restored and professionally wrapped with architectural film as the most cost-effective option, replacement can sometimes make more financial sense too.

In this case, replacing the doors also gave the client the opportunity to change the style as well as the colour, moving from a traditional Shaker door to a more contemporary slab design.

Back again…

A few weeks ago I completed a kitchen transformation at this retirement village.

After my client recommended me to their neighbour across the road, I was invited back to transform their kitchen too.

A big thank you to my previous client for the recommendation — it’s always really appreciated.

Choosing the right colour isn’t always easy…

One of my clients was considering several different colours for their kitchen and utility.

After looking through the options together, they narrowed their choice down to a few favourites.

To help them make their final decision, I created these visualisations from a photograph of their actual kitchen so they could compare their shortlisted colours and also see how the kitchen might look with a more contemporary slab-style door.

Once they’d settled on their preferred colour, I ordered full-size door samples so they could see the finish in person and be completely happy with their choice.

They settled on a contemporary taupe slab door, with the aim of giving the kitchen a more modern look.

Who says a kitchen has to be one colour?

Using two complementary finishes can completely change the look of a kitchen and is a great way of adding contrast and interest.

For this transformation, the main cabinetry was wrapped in a dark grey, while the island was finished in a lighter contrasting grey.

Two-tone kitchens can work particularly well with islands, feature units or contrasting details, giving you far more options than simply choosing one colour throughout.

Another year older today! 🎉

I’m taking the weekend to spend some time with my family, whose support has meant so much over the years, and to enjoy some of the simple things I love most…

This kitchen was refreshed without the cost and disruption of replacing the entire kitchen.

Keeping the original worktops, flooring and tiles shows just how much difference updating the cabinetry can make. The whole space feels brighter, fresher and far more contemporary.
