🔌 One Socket, Too Many Plugs?

We've all been there – running out of sockets and reaching for an extension lead!

But plugging too many appliances into one extension lead can increase the risk of overheating, particularly when you're using high-powered items such as heaters, kettles or tumble dryers.

A few simple things to keep in mind:

⚡ Avoid plugging one extension lead into another.
⚡ Keep high-powered appliances plugged directly into wall sockets where possible.
⚡ Check plugs and sockets for signs of overheating or damage.

A little awareness can go a long way towards keeping your home electrically safe.

We’ve been rewiring an old cottage, and because much of the existing property is listed, much of the new wiring has to be surface-mounted.

To keep the finished look as tidy as possible, we’ve used wireless switches, helping us avoid unnecessary visible cabling while still providing the functionality needed. 🏡

As the cottage has a thatched roof, we’ve also installed AFDDs (Arc Fault Detection Devices) as part of the fire protection measures.

The installation also includes external lighting controlled by a photocell timer and PIR, along with integrated smoke and heat detection.

A full rewire with a few extra considerations to suit the property — practical, safe and neatly finished. ⚡

We always appreciate hearing from our customers, and this lovely feedback really made us smile. 😊

We installed outside lights with sensors, giving our customer one less thing to think about.

The second issue turned out to be much simpler than expected. The sockets and lights in the garden room had stopped working, but James quickly traced the problem to a switch in the kitchen that had inadvertently been turned off. 🤦‍♀️

No major fault, no unnecessary work — just a straightforward fix and a happy customer.
