Why Does My Bathroom Extractor Fan Keep Running?

Have you ever left the bathroom, only to notice the extractor fan is still running several minutes later?

In many cases, that's completely normal.

Lots of bathroom extractor fans are fitted with a timer, allowing them to continue running after the light has been switched off. This helps remove any remaining moisture from the room, reducing condensation and helping to prevent damp and mould.

However, if the fan never seems to switch off, runs for much longer than expected, or starts behaving unpredictably, it could indicate a fault with the timer, wiring, or the fan itself.
