Freelance Opportunities at Bloc Architecture:
Freelance Planning Administrator / Planning Assistant
& Freelance AI & Digital Workflow Specialist

Bloc Architecture is expanding — and we're looking for two talented people to join us on a
freelance basis. (work from home) Team meetings once a week.
Must be based in the Midlands for weekly team co-ordination if needed.
We are a forward-thinking architectural practice looking at how technology, AI and better
digital workflows can transform the way architectural services are delivered.
We currently have two exciting freelance opportunities available:
1. Freelance Planning Administrator / Planning Assistant
Freelance | Flexible / Remote working | Architectural experience preferred
We're looking for a Planning Administrator / Planning Assistant to support our
architectural team with planning submissions and the preparation of planning information.
This role would suit someone who has experience working within an architectural practice,
planning consultancy or local authority environment — or a planning graduate looking to
gain practical experience within architecture and planning.
What you'll be doing
 Assisting with the preparation and submission of planning applications.
 Checking planning application requirements and documentation.
 Cross-referencing architectural drawings against planning requirements.
 Reviewing drawings for consistency between plans, elevations and supporting
information.
 Researching planning policies and permitted development requirements.
 Assisting with Planning Statements and supporting documentation.
 Checking Planning Portal requirements and application forms.
 Organising planning submission information and maintaining project records.
 Monitoring planning applications and assisting with responses to planning officers.
 Supporting the architectural team with planning-related research and
administration.
What we're looking for
You'll ideally have:
 Experience or a good working knowledge of the UK planning application process.
 Experience within an architectural, planning or construction environment.
 An understanding of householder planning applications and permitted
development.
 Good attention to detail.
 The ability to read and understand architectural drawings.
 Strong written and organisational skills.
 Confidence researching planning policies and guidance.
 The ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
A planning degree or relevant qualification would be highly desirable, making this an
excellent opportunity for a planning graduate looking to build practical experience.
Knowledge of Planning Portal, local authority planning systems and UK planning legislation
would be an advantage.
2. Freelance AI & Digital Workflow Specialist
Freelance | Flexible / Remote working | Technology & AI
This is a slightly different role — and we're particularly excited about it.
We're looking for an AI Specialist / Digital Workflow Developer to work alongside Bloc
Architecture as we develop a new generation of AI-assisted architectural workflows.
This isn't simply an "AI content" role.
We're looking for someone who is genuinely interested in how AI can change the way a
small architectural practice operates.
You'll become part of our emerging Digital Think Tank, helping us experiment with, develop
and implement better ways of working.
What you'll be working on
 AI-assisted architectural workflows.
 Workflow automation and process optimisation.
 Cloud storage and digital information management.
 Connecting different software platforms and services.
 Creating and testing AI agents.
 Developing AI assistants for repetitive administrative and architectural tasks.
 Automating document processing and information extraction.
 Improving project information management.
 Exploring AI tools that can assist with planning, design and architectural
administration.
 Developing systems that reduce repetitive work and improve productivity.
 Testing new AI technologies and identifying practical applications for the practice.
 Helping create a scalable digital infrastructure for Bloc Architecture.
The person we're looking for
You don't necessarily need to be working in an architectural field
You might be:
 An AI developer.
 Automation specialist.
 No-code/low-code developer.
 Software engineer.
 Digital workflow specialist.
 AI enthusiast with strong technical skills.
 Someone working with AI agents, APIs and automation platforms.
 A technically minded person who enjoys figuring out "there must be a better way of
doing this."
We're particularly interested in people who have experience with technologies such as:
 AI agents
 LLMs
 APIs
 Automation platforms
 Cloud storage
 Google Workspace
 Microsoft 365
 Make / Zapier / n8n
 Python or other scripting languages
 Databases
 Document automation
 AI-assisted workflow systems
You don't need to know all of these. We're more interested in your ability to learn,
experiment and build practical solutions.
