🏠 Something you can’t always see from the outside…

This is the first metre of roofing felt that we’ve just removed from a roof — the section directly above the guttering.

Unfortunately, this is a very common area for roof felt to deteriorate and rot, particularly on older roofs. Once the felt has started breaking down, it can allow moisture to get into the roof structure and cause further problems.

The tricky part is that you often can’t see the problem from ground level. The roof can look perfectly fine from the outside while the felt underneath is already deteriorating.

🔎 We always recommend having your roof checked, especially if it’s an older roof or you’ve never had it inspected.

Catching issues like this early can potentially save you from much more costly repairs further down the line.

If you’re unsure about the condition of your roof, feel free to get in touch with us for a professional inspection.

🏠 A friendly reminder from Jorvik Roofing…

Not all roof problems can be seen from the outside.

On a recent project, we removed the roof tiles and discovered that the roofing felt underneath had completely deteriorated. From the ground, there was very little indication that there was a serious problem, but beneath the surface the roof was no longer providing the protection it should.

This is exactly why regular roof inspections are so important. Hidden issues can go unnoticed for years and often only become apparent once leaks or more significant damage occur. Catching problems early can save you from costly repairs in the future.

If your roof is getting older or hasn’t been checked for a while, it’s worth having it professionally inspected for complete peace of mind.
