Trench Works | Surfacing Completed

Elm Surfacing recently completed surfacing works following trench works, delivering a high-quality reinstatement.

The surfacing specification consisted of 60mm AC20 binder course, followed by a 40mm SMA10 surface course.

Both layers were installed to provide a robust and long-lasting finished surface, suitable for the demands of the completed works.

Another successfully completed highway resurfacing scheme for Kent County Council in Margate.

The project involved planing out and replacing the existing carriageway, followed by the reinstatement of road markings and specialist High Friction Surfacing (HFS).

Key works included:

🔹 Planing out the existing carriageway to the required depth and preparing the surface for resurfacing.

🔹 Installation of 60mm AC20 HDM, providing a robust and durable binder course designed to withstand highway traffic loading.

🔹 Installation of 40mm SMA 10 Surf, delivering a durable, high-quality and uniform finished surface.

🔹 Reinstatement of all required road markings, restoring lane guidance and the road layout.

🔹 Application of High Friction Surfacing (HFS) to designated areas, improving skid resistance and braking performance, particularly in wet conditions.

🔹 Final quality checks and finishing works to ensure the completed carriageway met the required specification.

Elm Surfacing has recently completed surfacing works in Wokingham, delivering a high quality new carriageway surface as part of the wider development works.

* 11 tonnes of Ultilayer
* 1.8 tonnes of 6mm asphalt

Our team recently completed a trench reinstatement in Sidcup, taking the project from backfill through to the final surface and road markings.

Every successful resurfacing project starts with getting the foundations right. On this scheme, our team planed out the damaged sections before carrying out precision hand lay and trackwork across 930m², restoring the surface to the highest standard.

The works included installing AC20 dense binder course at an average compacted depth of 140mm, followed by AC10 dense surface course at an average compacted depth of 40mm, delivering a total construction depth of 180mm. Attention to detail at every stage ensured a smooth, consistent finish built to perform.
