Conservation joinery – preserving the character of the property 🪚🚪

We were asked to help with thislovely conservation project, involving the replacement of two traditional timber doors.

As this was a conservation project, both new doors had to be made like-for-like, carefully replicating the original designs, proportions and detailing to retain the character and appearance of the property.

From the traditional glazing layouts and privacy glass to the panel detailing and brass ironmongery, every element was considered to ensure the new doors remained sympathetic to the originals.

The result — two beautifully handcrafted doors that look completely at home in their surroundings, but are ready for many more years of service.

Bespoke Beech Specialist Cot

A recent bespoke project completed in our workshop for Centrobed.

This specialist cot was handcrafted from solid beech and designed for a child with additional care needs, where safety, accessibility and durability were especially important.

The cot features removable/opening panelled sections with turned beech spindles, carefully made and assembled in our workshop before being spray lacquered in a clear finish to protect the timber while retaining the beautiful natural colour and grain of the beech.

A very different project for us, and one we’re particularly proud to have been trusted to manufacture. It’s always rewarding when our joinery skills can be used to create something with such an important purpose.

Just another pair of windows leaving the workshop. We definitely know how to make a window.

2 new curved head detailed windows created to replace the two original windows that were in a real sorry state of repair. We had worked out that it would have cost more money to try to repair the original windows rather than replacing for new. Again an exact copy of the originals . Ready to be decorated when the putty dries out a bit more after they get installed.

2 more casement windows left the workshop recently. Hand made ironmongery on these to give them the real elegant look. Both of the windows were exact replicas of the rest of the house. We were asked to copy these to allow the builder to create 2 new openings to allow a bit more light into the building. I think we have done a good job of doing this.

Just at the final stages of finishing this project. Working closely with another local firm, we have replicated the windows installed in the rest of the house.
These are to go into the new wrap around extension. Made in quality sapele hardwood, with double glazed units, and fully decorated in our teknos paint system, they looked as per the originals when they were fitted.
The final decoration is to be done on the dorma window to the raised flat roof area at the rear, and a final bead of silicone to be applied to the tops of the windows.
These looked great with the curved meeting style detail.
