⁣
For this project, the textured tiles were used to create depth and give the room a strong focal point, while the darker fittings and simple detailing keep the overall finish sharp and modern.⁣
⁣
A good example of how the right combination of materials, textures and finishes can completely transform a space.⁣

Steelwork is always a team effort, you can’t even move them on your own for starters! ⁣
⁣
It takes experience, co ordination, understanding and a lot of muscle to get these huge lumps up and in safely and securely. 💪🏼 ⁣
⁣
We have hit our stride this year with our current team and I’m exited for the future. ⁣

𝗜𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗮 𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 🧱⁣
⁣
It’s always a pleasure laying the first bricks/blocks on an extension. It’s when you really start to see the project come to life.⁣
⁣
It’s also always a pleasure to have AHP brickwork on site with us. It’s so important to have contractors who actually care about your project the same way you do. We have been working with these guys a long time so this stage is always effortless. ⁣

𝗔𝗱𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 🔄⁣
⁣
One thing we’ve learnt from working in St Albans is to expect the unexpected.⁣
⁣
With parts of the cities drainage network dating back well over 150 years, it’s not unusual for there to be incomplete or sometimes completely inaccurate records of what’s underground. There had even been a drainage survey however it wasn’t worth the paper it was writen on! ⁣
⁣
On this extension, the survey showed the shared drainage leaving the property in one direction. Once we started digging, we uncovered the reality.⁣
⁣
Not just one drain but two! ⁣
⁣
Even the Thames Water inspector stood on site and said, “These shouldn’t be here.”⁣
⁣
That discovery meant putting our concrete pour on hold while we:⁣
• Revised the drainage layout.⁣
• Updated the structural calculations.⁣
• Amended the build-over agreement.⁣
• Completed the necessary remedial works.⁣
• Worked closely with the architects, structural engineers and Thames Water to get everything redesigned and approved as quickly as possible.⁣
⁣
This is the side of construction people rarely see. Things don’t always go to plan, especially when you’re working around infrastructure that’s been in the ground for more than a century.⁣
⁣
As the main contractor, our job is to adapt, communicate with our clients, solve the problem, and keep the project moving.⁣
⁣
Sometimes you’ve just got to build a bridge… and literally get over it. ⁣
⁣
Concrete pour booked for this week. Back on track. 👊⁣
