"Day Job vs. Night Job"
The Rowson Roseway Renovation: Episode 1 – What is actually holding my house up?! 🛠️🧱
It’s been about four weeks since my intro videos, and while it might look like I went quiet on social media, the grind hasn't stopped! Running Rowson and Jones Renovations full-time during the day means this project is strictly an evenings-and-weekends hustle. ⏳
On top of that, we hit a massive stumbling block in the loft when we found three inches of vermiculite across the entire ceiling. We had to pause the house clear-out to get it safely checked and tested, which completely threw off my posting schedule—but I’ll dive deeper into that whole saga in a later video!
Now that the dust has settled, welcome to Episode 1 of the main journey! 🎥
In this episode, I'm putting my builder brain to the test on my own home, looking at the structural walls—or the structural instability—of the house. Living in a post-war property on Roseway means uncovering some pretty "creative" building methods.
Here’s what I’m tackling in this episode:
Hollow Clay Blocks: The joys of post-war materials! 🧱
Zero Ties: Discovering the internal walls aren't actually tied into the external ones at all.
Floating Walls: Finding out the internal walls were literally built straight off the old floorboards. 😅
