This is a recent follow up of remedial works and upgrade job as the RCD, in the circled position, had failed to trip on test button press, something the home owner should test every 6 months maximum. The new RCD is a Type A replacing the Type AC faulty one. Type A is the current standard of device to use as it gives much better protection because we use so many more appliances with built in electronics. Which leads on to the addition of the SPD - Surge protection device which guards against damaging electrical surges that can destroy electronics, damage your electrical installation and the circuit protection devices on the distribution board. It's possible surges are responsible for the failure of the RCD.

Recessed downlight fittings installed in bathroom refurbishment. Can be tricky getting them positioned satisfactorily with the ceiling joists limiting options. On other jobs I've fitted them exactly where desired by installing a lowered ceiling with the structural parts in more useful positions.

Smoke alarms installation cunrrently underway in Boughton, Chester.
These are mains wired alarms with fixed self charging lithium back up battery have a 10 year life.

This lighting really shows off the nice new paths. They're on an on/off switch but could also be fitted with smart switching to link with Amazon Alexa or Google Home and geo fence it too for lighting your dark hours arrivals etc.
Plus these fittings can be switched to warm white or cool white too.

This delighted Deeside customer now has a safe installation.
With a lighting fault initially the customer called a home services company to help. Their electrician spotted rubber insulated wiring and refused to carry out repairs stating a rewire was required.
I instead have fixed faults, installed additions and upgraded the distribution board in a more accessible position ready for a kitchen renovation to follow.

Really awkward central heating repair done here. Full new heating zone valve fitted - that's the blue top part.
Really hope they don't end up needing the water heating one replaced as that's above the pump just out of sight in the tiled boxed in section above.

Additional socket outlets fitted here at Energie Fitness gym in Deeside Retail Park, Shotton.
A much neater and safer job which will remote hazard of extension cable reel use.

Neat job just done here in Shotton.
It's not new though but consolidated and improved.
The house had been used as two flats on ground floor and first floor so a separate distribution board on each level.
The split house is to become one dwelling so I've extended the upstairs circuits to this under stair storage area and brought the distribution board too.
The two boards are split load so the circuits of the house are divided into four RCD protected banks.
This satisfies the requirement to minimise inconvenience, in the event of an RCD tripping just part of the installation is affected.
Also covered cables as seen and in hallway in trunking.
