Not every emergency lighting project needs a dedicated emergency fitting.

Sometimes the lighting is already right for the space.

Whether it's architectural lighting in a historic building, feature lighting in a commercial space or external lighting that needs to remain operational during a power failure, replacing the existing fittings isn't always the best approach.

The STAVELEY Mini LED Static Inverter provides emergency power to standard, unmodified mains LED luminaires, allowing the existing lighting scheme to continue operating when the normal supply fails.

That makes it a flexible solution for applications such as:

It’s easy to assume your emergency lighting is working because the fittings are there and the indicator lights are showing.

But when was the last time the system was actually tested?

Emergency lighting should be regularly tested and maintained to make sure it will operate when it is needed. Typically, this includes:
▪️ Monthly function testing – checking that the emergency luminaires operate when the normal supply is interrupted.
▪️ Annual full-duration testing – testing the system for its full rated duration.
▪️ Recording the results – keeping a record of tests, faults and any remedial work.

It’s also worth remembering that a test isn't simply about switching the lights on. Faulty batteries, failed lamps or LEDs, damaged fittings, poor illumination or other issues can all affect how the system performs.

And if it’s been a while since your last inspection, it may be worth asking:

When was your emergency lighting last tested - and what did the test actually find?

When you're choosing emergency lighting, the warranty isn't usually the first thing you look at.

But it can tell you something about how a manufacturer stands behind its products.

At BLE, our lighting range is generally covered by a 5-year warranty, while our Made in Britain emergency lighting range carries a 10-year warranty.

That's a significant period of cover particularly for products designed to provide dependable illumination when normal power isn't available.
