Designed to belong, not stand out.

Langsett View is our planning-approved new home in the South Yorkshire Green Belt.
Rather than designing one large, dominant building, we divided the home into two connected barn-inspired forms, taking cues from the simple agricultural buildings that previously occupied the site.

The result is a generous four-bedroom family home we designed to sit comfortably within its rural setting, with natural stone, slate and timber helping connect the architecture to the surrounding South Yorkshire landscape.

For these latest images, we’ve been exploring the latest CGI and AI visualisation technology to bring the approved design to life. The images might be digital, but the project and design are very much real.

Jonathan visited our project on the beautiful Isle of Anglesey this week for a progress meeting.

It’s coming on fantastically well. With the scaffolding now down, the focus has shifted to the interior, where the finishes and fittings are starting to bring everything together.

As for the last slide… let’s just say the client insisted there was only one proper way to check the view up through the new skylight from the bath. Who were we to argue?

Progress doesn’t look pretty - but you’re one step closer…

We first shared this video at the beginning of the year, when many people were just about to start their building projects.

Six months on, some of you may now be right in the thick of it.

Half-finished rooms. Constant noise. Dust that never quite disappears.

It can feel overwhelming, but the disruption means progress is being made. Every difficult and chaotic day is another step closer to the home you imagined.

One day, you’ll walk through the door and remember exactly why you started.

Know someone living through a renovation or self-build? Share this with them. They might need the reminder that it really does get better; keep going.

It was a pleasure to spend the evening at the Sheffield Hallam University School of Architecture End of Year Show.

From the undergraduate degree show through to the MArch diploma projects, it was fantastic to see the breadth of creativity, dedication and talent on display. It was especially nice to see Rachel and Ayona exhibiting their work after all of the hard work they have put in over the past year.

Congratulations to everyone who exhibited. The quality of the work on display was outstanding, and we wish you all the very best for the future.

A special congratulations to Ayona, who was awarded the West Yorkshire Society of Architects MArch Year 6 Architectural Design Prize. A thoroughly deserved achievement.

And while Rachel may not have picked up an award on the night, she still returns to the office as our reigning quiz champion, a title we’re sure she’ll be keen to defend! 😇

Congratulations Ayona and Rachel

A huge congratulations to Ayona and Rachel, who have both passed their RIBA Part 2 Master’s Apprenticeships through Sheffield Hallam University.

Both joined Brightman Clarke Architects in 2023 and have completed their Master’s studies while working full-time in practice, attending university one day a week during the academic term.

It is a fantastic achievement and a real reflection of their hard work, commitment and talent.

We are delighted to see them take this next step in their architectural careers and wish them every success as they now progress towards RIBA Part 3 and continue their journey towards becoming qualified architects.

Well done both.

SITE VISIT | ANGLESEY

Yesterday, Jonathan made the trip across to the beautiful island of Anglesey to visit one of our projects currently on site.

The scheme is progressing tremendously, with the scaffolding now starting to come down and the focus shifting towards the interior spaces. The kitchen has arrived and is ready to be fitted next — always an exciting milestone as the project really starts to feel like a home.

A huge thank you to the fantastic team on site for all their hard work and attention to detail. We’re looking forward to sharing more soon.

SITE VISIT | SHEFFIELD

Site visits are an important part of the process, especially when ideas begin turning into real spaces.

Alicia recently took Rachel and Ayona to site to meet the builder and walk through the scheme together, discussing progress, details and how the project is coming together beyond the drawings.

This side and rear extension to a bungalow is designed to unlock the house and make it work far better for contemporary family life, creating more light, better flow and more generous spaces for day-to-day living.

It is always exciting to see a project move from design into construction.

ON-SITE NOW: A MAJOR HOME RENOVATION/EXTENSION

A woodland home reimagined.

These latest CGI + AI illustrations show our proposed transformation of The Lodge, Worksop — a substantial remodelling and extension designed to bring more light, openness and connection to its landscape.

What began as a darker, inward-looking property is being reshaped into a warm contemporary family home with generous glazing, stronger connections to the garden and more open, flowing living spaces.

The visuals have been created using our evolving CGI/AI workflow to help communicate atmosphere, materials, light and feeling much earlier in the design process.

But this isn’t a concept project or speculative AI fantasy.

This is a real scheme.
For a real client.
On a real site.
With real planning, budget and construction considerations behind it.

We’re increasingly finding that AI becomes most powerful when paired with genuine architectural thinking, technical knowledge and a deliverable design.
