THE VILLA | SOUTH YORKSHIRE

Inspired by the elegance and simplicity of mid-century garden pavilions, The Villa is a contemporary five-bedroom family home designed around light, landscape and the way our clients want to live.

Set on the edge of a village near Doncaster, this is a real architectural project, designed for real clients, on a real site.

The images and video you see here combine traditional architectural CGI with AI enhancement, allowing us to bring our designs to life with an increasingly photographic level of detail.

But for our clients, these visuals are about much more than beautiful images.

They help our clients understand the design, explore ideas and make informed decisions with greater confidence, long before construction begins.

And as anyone who has undertaken a major building project will know, there can be challenging moments along the way.

Having a clear picture of what you’re working towards can make all the difference. These images become a reminder of the original vision, the decisions made together and, most importantly, the home that awaits at the end of the journey.

THE VILLA | SOUTH YORKSHIRE

Inspired by the elegance and simplicity of mid-century garden pavilions, The Villa is a contemporary five-bedroom family home designed around light, landscape and the way our clients want to live.

Set on the edge of a village near Doncaster, the design brings together generous family spaces, carefully considered views and a strong connection to the surrounding countryside.

These images have been created using a combination of traditional architectural CGI and AI enhancement, helping us communicate the design with an increasingly photographic level of detail.

AI is making it easier than ever to create images of buildings that don’t exist. But there’s an important distinction between generating an imaginary home and visualising a genuine architectural project.

The Villa is a real commission, designed for real clients, on a real site, with a defined budget and individual requirements.

The imagery may be computer-generated, but the architecture behind it is very real.

From what was here, to what comes next.

Chris takes us back to Woodlands in North East Derbyshire, before the original bungalow was carefully demolished and some of its materials recycled, making way for a completely new family home.

We then jump forward to our CGI/AI visualisations of the new home, which is now under construction.

Woodlands is a great example of looking beyond the building that already exists and asking a much bigger question: what could this site become?

And while many of the headlines around agentic AI are raising important questions about where the technology is heading, our approach is much more grounded. We use established AI tools in a carefully controlled way, as part of a traditional architectural visualisation process.

We still create our architectural visuals using traditional 3D modelling and CGI, then use AI enhancement to help our clients understand their future home more clearly and make real, informed design decisions.

At Woodlands, those images helped the clients explore and choose the tone of the external cladding before building started.

For us, CGI and AI visualisation is not about creating imaginary homes. It is about helping real clients make better decisions about real projects on real sites.

Traditional homes, with a twist.

We recently secured planning permission for this two-home development on the edge of Sheffield’s Green Belt, with far-reaching views across the South Yorkshire Pennines towards the Peak District National Park.

The design takes its inspiration from the simple agricultural buildings that have shaped this rural landscape. Rather than creating two identical homes, we developed a shared architectural language, giving each its own character while allowing them to sit comfortably together within their setting.

Traditional in appearance, but designed around contemporary family life.

Natural stone, slate and timber help root the homes in their surroundings, while generous open-plan spaces, carefully framed views and plenty of natural light create homes for the way we live today.

Designed to belong, not stand out.

Langsett View is our planning-approved new home in the South Yorkshire Green Belt.
Rather than designing one large, dominant building, we divided the home into two connected barn-inspired forms, taking cues from the simple agricultural buildings that previously occupied the site.

The result is a generous four-bedroom family home we designed to sit comfortably within its rural setting, with natural stone, slate and timber helping connect the architecture to the surrounding South Yorkshire landscape.

For these latest images, we’ve been exploring the latest CGI and AI visualisation technology to bring the approved design to life. The images might be digital, but the project and design are very much real.

Jonathan visited our project on the beautiful Isle of Anglesey this week for a progress meeting.

It’s coming on fantastically well. With the scaffolding now down, the focus has shifted to the interior, where the finishes and fittings are starting to bring everything together.

As for the last slide… let’s just say the client insisted there was only one proper way to check the view up through the new skylight from the bath. Who were we to argue?

Progress doesn’t look pretty - but you’re one step closer…

We first shared this video at the beginning of the year, when many people were just about to start their building projects.

Six months on, some of you may now be right in the thick of it.

Half-finished rooms. Constant noise. Dust that never quite disappears.

It can feel overwhelming, but the disruption means progress is being made. Every difficult and chaotic day is another step closer to the home you imagined.

One day, you’ll walk through the door and remember exactly why you started.

It was a pleasure to spend the evening at the Sheffield Hallam University School of Architecture End of Year Show.

From the undergraduate degree show through to the MArch diploma projects, it was fantastic to see the breadth of creativity, dedication and talent on display. It was especially nice to see Rachel and Ayona exhibiting their work after all of the hard work they have put in over the past year.

Congratulations to everyone who exhibited. The quality of the work on display was outstanding, and we wish you all the very best for the future.

A special congratulations to Ayona, who was awarded the West Yorkshire Society of Architects MArch Year 6 Architectural Design Prize. A thoroughly deserved achievement.

And while Rachel may not have picked up an award on the night, she still returns to the office as our reigning quiz champion, a title we’re sure she’ll be keen to defend! 😇
