Another one of many wasp nests weve treated recently. This one was slightly different though and because of their nesting habit this particular species is the gardeners worst nightmare !. These were Median wasps and have the habit of building their nests under the eves of property or in hedges, often they're discovered with hedge cutters...which as you can imagine they take exception to!!. Median wasps are slightly bigger than European and German wasps ( the two most common wasp species), one of the easiest ways to identify them is they have more black than yellow on them. What they share in common with other wasp species is that they all chew a thin layer of wood of fences, sheds etc to build their nests with. The small scratches you often see on fences pictured below is a sure sign theres a nest nearby
