Called out to help a customer in Greystones, S11, whose rear door had become difficult to operate, even with the door open.
This usually indicates an issue with the locking mechanism or gearbox.
Unfortunately, these Mila Prolinea full locking mechanisms are now obsolete, but the central gearboxes are still available.
We replaced the gearbox, realigned the door and hinges, and got it working better than the day it was installed over 10 years ago!
Don’t get caught out by Rogue Locksmiths or dodgy companies that plague our industry.
We are proud members of Certified Locksmiths and Security organisation.
Fully vetted, DBS checked and insured.

30 yr old Ferco locking mechanism, cylinder and handles replaced for a customer in Woodhouse, S13.
They contacted us after their back door lock jammed and they couldn’t open it.
It turned out that the latch had sheared off from the connecting plate, meaning that it wouldn’t retract when the handle was pushed down.
New mechanism installed, along with a pair of Hoppe Frankfurt handles and an Ultion 1* Plus cylinder.
Good to go again for another 30 years! 😁👍

Tricky one to finish the working week off with.
This Steel Line roller shutter garage door had jammed after the locking mechanisms failed after 25 years of faithful service!
There was no other door to access the garage, and the customer needed to access the charge point for their electric car.
We manipulated the locking rods open, replaced the central locking mechanism, and got the door back in service ready for the weekend.

Whenever you decide to get a locksmith in to carry out work in your home, we always recommend that you ask the following questions before proceeding with any works…..

Is there a call out charge?
How much roughly will the work cost?
Do you need me to send any photos of the existing locks?
What type of lock will you be fitting? (All locks are certainly NOT made equal!)
Are you using genuine parts?
Is there any guarantee with the parts used?

Any genuine Locksmith will be glad you’ve asked all of the above questions, and will happily answer them, along with showing proof of insurance, DBS clearance, and membership of an approved organisation.

Don’t take unnecessary risks with your home security.

Code change on a mechanical codelock in Kelham Island for a commercial customer.
Upon inspection, this lock hadn’t been installed correctly, and the latch was only withdrawing half of its usual way.
New code inputted, lock realigned correctly, and working like it should have done when it was first fitted. 😁👍

Worn out mortice lock replaced and extra keys cut for a customer in Lodge Moor, S10.
They called us after their key became stuck in the outside of the lock, and jammed in the locked position.
We removed the key, assessed the lock for wear and damage, and installed a new Union Strongbolt lock, kitemarked to BS3621:2007 to comply with current insurance regulations.
Extra keys cut on genuine Union blanks, not the cheaper brass copy blanks that a lot of key cutting shops use to maximise profits!
