Navitas Solar is proud to have completed a 114.54 kWp Solar PV installation for Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust at the Embrace Unit in Barnsley.

Embrace provides a vital 24-hour transport service for critically ill babies and children across Yorkshire and the Humber, carrying out urgent transfers between hospitals across the region and beyond.

The new system includes 249 solar panels and is expected to generate 91,176 kWh of clean electricity each year, helping the Trust reduce reliance on the national grid, lower energy costs and support its Net Zero journey.

This project is a great example of how renewable energy can support essential frontline services, not only by reducing carbon emissions but by improving long-term energy resilience.

Niall Roulson has become Operations Director at Navitas Solar Installations.

Niall brings over 15 years’ management experience in the electrical industry and has worked across a wide range of commercial sectors including education, healthcare, retail, social housing and the NHS.

In his new role, Niall will help oversee our installation teams, making sure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and on time.

Navitas Solar were approached by ASD Lighting PLC in Rotherham to investigate the underperformance of their Solar PV system, originally installed by a different contractor. We conducted a thorough survey, including a drone investigation, and performed a comprehensive electrical test on the system. Our report identified two faulty inverters, one of the DC strings was burnt out, and the panels were significantly dirty, requiring cleaning.

We have since cleaned the panels using our safe, long-reach cleaning system, repaired the burnt out string on the roof and plan to replace the malfunctioning inverters in the coming days. This will restore the system to full efficiency, allowing ASD Lighting to reap the full financial and environmental benefits of their clean energy system.
