⚡ EV CHARGER INSTALLATION — IS YOURS SAFE? 🔌🚗

An EV charger that repeatedly trips shouldn’t simply be reset and forgotten about.

We recently attended an installation where we found several issues with the electrical supply to the charger, including:

⚠️ An MCB that didn’t match the make of the consumer unit.

⚠️ An AC-type RCD protecting the circuit.

⚠️ The charger sharing protection with other circuits.

⚠️ No surge protection.

⚠️ No PEN fault protection.

The circuit was also experiencing repeated tripping.

We’ve now installed the correct components to address these issues and bring the installation up to the required standard.

Your EV charger is a significant electrical load. Correct circuit protection, suitable equipment and proper installation matter.

Don’t just look at the charger on the wall — make sure the electrical installation behind it is right, too.

⚡ Another EV charger installed today! 🚗🔌

This property had a full refurbishment, and while carrying out the electrical work, we planned ahead and installed the cabling ready for a future EV charger.

Fast forward to now… the house is finished, lived in, and the Ohme charger could be installed without having to lift floors, chase walls or cause unnecessary disruption!

Sometimes a little forward thinking saves a lot of hassle later on 👌
