🐶🎾 Meet Toby – Our Little Gardening Assistant! 🌿

One of the lovely things about my job isn’t just the gardens we look after, but the four-legged friends we make along the way! ❤️

This is Toby, a lovely little Jack Russell who belongs to one of our customers, Roger.

Every time we turn up to maintain the garden, Toby is always ready and waiting for a game of ball! 🎾🐾

And believe it or not, Toby isn’t the only customer’s dog we end up playing ball with during our working day! 😂

He’s such a lovely little character and a wonderful companion for Roger.

At Adam the Gardener, we don’t just look after gardens. We build lasting relationships with our customers, and sometimes their four-legged companions become part of our working day too!

After all, there’s always time for a quick game of fetch! 🐶💚

Seven years of caring for this beautiful garden 🌿

I always treat every customer’s garden as though it were my own, but this one has a special place in my heart. These customers are among my longest-standing, and when I first started looking after their garden, it was the largest I had ever taken on.

Over the years, we’ve designed and created new borders, improved existing areas and worked carefully with the garden’s colour schemes. The rose-lined path, alliums, peonies and neatly kept lawn are just a few of the things I love about it.

Since then, Adam the Gardener has grown, and we now care for some very large properties. This garden will always be one I’m particularly proud of.

As my customers prepare to move, I want to thank them for trusting me and the team with their garden for seven years. I wish them every happiness in their new home.

🌿 LOCAL FARMERS & LANDOWNERS—DO YOUR HEDGES NEED REGENERATING? 🌿

We’re currently looking for farmers, smallholders and landowners across Bristol, South Gloucestershire, Gloucestershire and the surrounding areas who may be interested in having their hedges traditionally laid this autumn and winter.

Even if your hedge is very old, overgrown, thin at the bottom or full of gaps, don’t assume it needs to be removed. Hedge laying can give an ageing hedge a new lease of life by encouraging fresh growth from the base and creating a stronger, thicker natural boundary.

The benefits include:

🌱 Regenerating old and neglected hedgerows
🐦 Creating valuable shelter for birds and wildlife
🌳 Encouraging healthy new growth
🚜 Producing a stronger natural boundary for fields and livestock

🍎🍐 Apple, Pear & Quince Tree Pruning 🍐🍎

Healthy fruit trees need regular care to keep them productive, attractive and safe. When pruning apple, pear and quince trees, we don’t simply cut branches back—we carefully inspect the whole tree.

We look out for:

🌿 Dead, damaged or diseased branches
🌿 Branches crossing or rubbing against each other
🌿 Signs of canker, rot or fungal disease
🌿 Weak growth and overcrowded areas
🌿 Poor airflow through the tree
🌿 Branches growing in unsafe or unsuitable directions

Correct pruning allows more air and light into the canopy, encourages healthy new growth and can improve the quality of the fruit. Removing problems early may also prevent disease from spreading, helping your tree live and produce fruit for many more years.

Looking after established fruit trees is also a sustainable choice. Careful pruning helps preserve valuable trees, supports wildlife and reduces the need to remove and replace them.
