Door handles, floorboards, decking, reclaimed doors and bricks, even log burners. These are the details that give a project its character, and we’re a little detail obsessed at Stagbrook.

A well-fitted kitchen starts long before the cabinets arrive. For this project, we helped the clients rethink the layout and advised on adding an extension to give them the space they needed, then worked through the kitchen style, colour and design with them.

The finished space brings together classic Shaker cabinetry and herringbone flooring, with the care in the fitting and finishing doing justice to the materials chosen. It’s a kitchen designed around how our clients use their home, with a quality finish they can enjoy every day.

Stagbrook managed the complete project, bringing our specialist trades together with one point of contact throughout, from the early decisions through to the final fit-out.

A few carefully placed stones can make all the difference to a corner of the garden, although getting them to look effortlessly positioned takes a fair bit of work.

We were back with an existing client in Sevenoaks to create a focal area for their water feature, sourcing the stone before cutting and fitting each piece to suit the space. We also advised on suitable plants and completed the planting, so the area felt finished right down to the last detail.

This is how it came together, including the less glamorous bits. Cutting stone is never a spotless job, but keeping the mess contained and looking after the garden around us is all part of the work.

The bath stayed, but everything else had to go. We stripped this bathroom back and started again, working with the client to make the most of their budget and creating a space that felt right for them.

The orange and brown tiles bring a proper nod to the 70s, with warm autumnal colours that feel particularly at home this time of year. Choosing the look is very much a partnership with our clients. We bring the practical advice and workmanship, helping them decide where to spend, what’s worth keeping and how to bring it all together.

Another day, another undisclosed location. 😉 This time, we’ve been laying a new herringbone floor in a private box, where the view is pretty impressive but our attention stayed firmly on the floor. Every cut, angle and edge carefully finished, because even with a stadium outside, the details still deserve a close look.

Not every project comes with a location tag 👀 We managed this log cabin project from the concrete base through to the completed build, including sourcing and installing the decking, with careful attention to the construction and finish throughout. Keeping the site tidy and well organised is part of how we work, taking care of our client’s surroundings at every stage. We’re keeping the location under wraps, but the workmanship is there to see. 1. Rich, earthy colour
Deep greens, warm browns, clay, burgundy and muddy neutrals. Especially good when they’re carried across walls, woodwork and cabinetry rather than stopping at the skirting board.

2. Natural stone with character
Limestone, ragstone and stone with plenty of variation and texture. Indoors, outdoors, fireplaces, flooring, patios - we’re firmly in the camp of letting the material look like the material.

3. Proper built-in joinery
Alcoves, awkward corners and unused walls turned into storage that actually belongs in the room. Made to fit the house and the people living in it, rather than squeezing in something off the shelf.

4. Warm, layered lighting
Less reliance on rows of spotlights and more wall lights, pendants, lamps and discreet architectural lighting. The right lighting completely changes how a newly finished space feels once the evenings draw in.

5. Keeping the old bits
Original floorboards, fireplaces, beams, doors, mouldings and slightly imperfect features. Not every renovation needs to strip a house back to something brand new. Often, the best results come from knowing what not to change.

Awkward spaces are often the most satisfying ones to sort out.

This one in Sevenoaks needed a bit of thought around the different levels and existing stonework. We used natural stone to create the new patio and steps, making the whole area feel much more usable.

These wardrobes started with us taking out the old, dated units (see pic!) and having a proper look at what the client actually needed from the space. Rather than replacing like for like, we designed the new wardrobes around how they wanted to use them, with drawers across three sections, a full-length hanging space at the end and additional storage across the top, so every bit of the available space is doing something useful.

Everything was made from scratch in our joinery workshop, including the internal storage and drawer fronts, then sprayed by our team before being taken to site and fitted. We also sourced the handles to finish everything off properly. It’s one of those jobs where having the joinery and spraying skills within the Stagbrook team really comes into its own, because we can take something from an idea and a fairly tired space through to a completely bespoke, beautifully finished piece of furniture that looks like it was always meant to be there.
