Trying to choose between an air source heat pump and a new gas boiler?

There is no universal winner. A fair comparison needs your home's heat demand, the heat pump's expected seasonal efficiency, both fuel prices, hot-water requirements and the work included in each quote.

Our new guide explains the trade-offs in plain English and includes an interactive running-cost calculator. It is a useful starting point for homeowners across the North East — then a proper heat-loss assessment turns the estimate into a design.

🔥 Hot Water Cylinder Replacement – Another Job Completed

We recently attended a customer’s home to replace their existing hot water cylinder after it had reached the point where replacement was the most sensible option.

The old cylinder was removed and a new unit installed, with the system recommissioned and checked to make sure everything was operating correctly before we left.

Cylinder replacements might not be the most glamorous part of what we do, but having reliable hot water certainly matters when yours stops working! 🚿

At Enerus, we can help with:

🔧 Hot water cylinder replacements
💧 Unvented cylinder installations
🔥 Heating system repairs & upgrades
♨️ Boilers & heat pumps
🛠️ Fault finding and repairs

If your cylinder is leaking, losing pressure, taking too long to heat up or simply getting towards the end of its life, we can take a look and advise on the best option.

🔥 Enerus isn’t Heat Geek affiliated—and that’s a deliberate choice.

Long before heat-pump training became widely promoted to traditional heating engineers, we were already designing and installing complete heat-pump systems.

Our approach has always been design-led:

✅ Detailed property surveys
✅ Room-by-room heat-loss calculations
✅ Correct radiator and emitter sizing
✅ Sensible flow-temperature design
✅ Accurate heat-pump selection
✅ Noise assessments and installation planning
✅ Proper commissioning and ongoing support

We recognise that Heat Geek training may help heating engineers entering the heat-pump industry. However, Enerus already has extensive practical experience, an established design department and MCS-accredited processes.

We don’t believe another badge would improve the service or technical standard our customers receive.

Our latest article explains why Enerus remains independent—and what homeowners should genuinely look for when choosing a heat-pump installer.

Boiler service plan or boiler cover—which do you actually need?

They are not the same. A service plan keeps annual maintenance organised, while boiler cover is usually designed to help with specified breakdowns under its own terms and exclusions.

Our new guide compares:

- The £8/month Enerus Boiler Service Plan
- Traditional boiler and home-emergency cover
- Paying £89 for a one-off service
- The £10/month landlord service and CP12 option
- The questions to ask before signing up

Read the guide and choose the approach that suits your boiler, budget and appetite for unexpected repair costs.

🇬🇧 A heat pump designed and manufactured right here in County Durham.

We’ve now fitted a few Ebac air source heat pumps, and our experience with them has been very positive.

The units feel solid, perform well and have clearly been designed with installers in mind. One feature we particularly like is the supplied wiring centre—it’s straightforward to set up and helps create a much cleaner installation.

But is an Ebac heat pump the right choice for every home?

We’ve written an honest installer review covering:

✅ The 5kW and 9kW models
✅ Efficiency and cold-weather performance
✅ Noise and controls
✅ The installer-friendly wiring centre
