This one was a little more involved than a standard solar installation!
Team NB recently completed a full overhaul of the renewable energy system at a Farm in North Yorkshire, transforming an ageing and poorly installed setup into a clean, professionally engineered Victron fully off-grid solar, battery and generator system.
๐ธ The before and after photos really tell the story.
The existing installation had accumulated a mixture of equipment, exposed and poorly managed cabling, ageing battery storage and numerous components that were no longer arranged to the standard we would expect from a modern off-grid power system.
Rather than simply adding more equipment to what was already there, we stripped the existing installation back, safely removed redundant equipment and wiring, and completely rebuilt the power system from the ground up.
The result is a properly designed, protected and maintainable installation built around Victron Energy, with integrated generator backup providing the farm with a dependable source of power when solar generation and battery reserves are insufficient.

The project also included the safe removal of the previous inverters and associated wiring, with the complete system redesigned and rebuilt into the finished installation you see in the after photo.

One of the biggest advantages of the new installation is the way the Victron system, solar PV, battery storage and generator operate together as one fully integrated energy system.
โ๏ธ During periods of good solar generation, the PV system supplies the property and charges the battery bank.
๐ When solar production drops, stored energy from the batteries automatically supplies the property.
๐ When the batteries reach the configured level, the generator can automatically start, support the property and recharge the battery bank, before shutting back down when it is no longer required.
๐ง The Victron system manages the complete process automatically, giving the customer a genuine off-grid power solution without having to constantly manage the generator manually.
